I'm totally anti-tobacco and truly believe the nearly effortless switch to vaping years ago has saved my life. Yet, I recently spoke with one of my doctors, a lung specialist who told me that hot oil “cooks” your lungs. “Smoking cigarettes kills you slowly, vaping kills you quicker” he said. So, for what it’s worth, I think this is something people should know about.

Cooking your lungs isn't going to happen with responsible vaping no matter what your doctor thinks. There's no "oil" in the standard vape. Those who have vaped oils OTOH (CBD, for instance) have suffered terrible lung damage.

It's shame that a few uninformed vapers have put vaping in a dim light. PG, VG, and flavors that don't contain oil are the safe way to vape. As I've said before, my lungs are clean and clear 11 years out from my last cigarette, vaping daily using approved mixes.

What did I hope to communicate? The words of my lung specialist, which I can see have fallen on deaf ears, as there is no one here intelligent enough to take them seriously.

Vegetable Glycerin is an oil.

As others have pointed out, Vg is not an oil.

For years a dead giveaway that someone smoked pot was them asking "What kind of oil do you use in your vape pen"

The liquids and flavorings we use in traditional vaping are alcohol based and/or water soluble. Which means our lungs can clear them far easier than if we were inhaling oils.

Sadly, Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC products meant for vaping still use oils. Even those made by reputable suppliers of ejuices.

And despite oils being partially responsible for the rash of deaths that occurred last year and that were blamed on vaping by the CDC.Thats probably where your doctors confusion stems from.

In those cases, what likely occurred is that someone didnt flush their marijuana plants to rid them of harmful pesticides and chemicals. After the plants were converted to cannabis oil it was added to vape cartridges and sold online.

The oil inside these cartridges acted as a poultice, coating the lungs and keeping the chemicals in contact with them for FAR longer than if the base had been water soluble. Those who died from it, autopsies of their lungs showed chemical burns.

As far as your comment about no one in this thread being intelligent enough to hear your words, youre dead wrong there. We hear you loud and clear, but many of us are much better informed on this subject than either you or your doctor will ever be.

In the scenario I mentioned above, even researchers with Masters Degrees and Doctorates at the CDC didnt have a clue what was going on until myself and other vaping experts called and explained to them what had likely happened.

Then in subsequent interviews they found that the people affected, who were mostly teenagers and young adults, had been lying about just vaping because they didnt want to get in trouble for using weed.

Being a doctor doesnt make you infallible. Far from it in fact and the story above proves it.

Thanks Dave, you seem to be the exception around here and I do appreciate your insight. I don't trust the CDC or the FDA, saying there is no evidence that vaping is safer than cigarettes, when more die each year than Americans killed in WWI, compared to zero deaths from standard vaping, I call that evidence, and see their campaign against vaping as a downright murderous plan (being controlled by big tobacco) to keep the average ignorant smoker buying tobacco for life. No, I don't subscribe 100% with my doctor's statement, I just thought I'd pass along what this expert told me... for what it's worth.

I appreciate your reply and am glad to find there are those willing to comment rather than ridicule. I agree, but knowing as I do what these people are capable of, my guess is that it was no mistake, these kids were targeted (if they even exist) and used to launch their campaign against vaping. They don't just wait around hoping something like this will occur in their favor. But, yes, thank you.

Yawn boring etc... Glycerine BPC is also used a a medicinal product in Scotland ... I note you have not commented on PG however.

Oh BTW I smoked for 50 years and am now 71 - I've vaped for the last 6.5 years and my lungs are now better than they were when I smoked and my early signs of hardening of the arteries have gone.

Again as we say in Scotland - "Aye there's aye yin!" ( "Yes there always has to be one!")

Sarcastic comment when someone bums his load in the local boozer and shouts, or tries to, the company down, inflicting his opinion in which no one is the least bit interested.)

The One usually finds himself on the banned list sine die.
Well good for you, I'm glad you made the effortless switch to vaping, leaving those cancer sticks behind. But I don't appreciate the sarcasm and drunken bar humor. I'm not inflicting an opinion on anyone, just relating the opinion of a qualified professional.

Now, wait a minute guys. This guy's doctor might have actually said that, mine didn't care.

OP, you might wish to fill in your avatar location(city-state & country), it may help you in obtaining location specific information to your future question(s).On the top right hand corner of this post you will find --"your name" next to "Inbox and Alerts" Place the mouse pointer on your name, click. Thank you @BrotherBob
Thanks for the advice, and yes my doctor actually said that... why would anyone just make it up? I haven't met a doctor yet that had looked beyond the CDC hype and dis-info on vaping, so I'm assuming your doctor had, or just didn't want to go there with you.

Almost forgot, commenting on some forum doesn't give one credibility, not in the real world. He, (my doctor) strongly believes this is the case which and has no bearing on my particular condition whatsoever.

But I think there is a Good Change that the OP's Doctor was referring to people using Questionable THC Carts when he told the OP that "“Smoking cigarettes kills you slowly, vaping kills you quicker”. If that is a Direct Quote.

And perhaps the OP didn't make the Distinction between "Vaping" meaning what Most here use to Quit/Stay Off Cigarettes. And what some use to Get High.

Vaping isn't something that people should start if they aren't trying to get off the cigs. It's a great way to get burning tobacco out of your life and many who enjoyed smoking continue to vape after kicking tobacco cigarettes to the curb.

My doctors agree that vaping (as it was intended) is a good alternative for those who want to quit smoking cigarettes. I have yet to hear a doctor tell me that vaping is dangerous. Yes, there are some who extort vaping to use dangerous drugs and other chemicals that may cause serious health issues, and that's how vaping got a questionable label. There are some flavors that shouldn't be used in a vape. Flavors are mostly intended to be used in foods and drinks that are eaten or swallowed (as in a drink). They aren't meant for inhalation and certain flavors can be an issue. That's why we hang out on this forum. It's a good place to hear about issues in vaping certain additives to our juice.

We all have to be careful that our vape uses ingredients that won't harm the lungs. 11 years out from my first vape, my lungs are clean and clear when I have an X-ray or CT Scan. That's important and it's proof to me that vaping isn't harming my body. I use a finger tip pulse and O2 sensor when I exercise and it constantly shows me that my oxygen levels are at 98-99% under load.

That said, many doctors are purists and they don't condone anything other than clean air being introduced into our lungs. That's expected from a professional who expects patients to abstain from inhaling nicotine products.

Doctors expect patients to follow a strict guideline. They are looking out for your health, but sometimes they don't see the benefit from smokers switching from deadly tobacco to a vaping tobacco product that only contains Nicotine and no deadly cancer causing ingredients.

That's why we encourage new vapers to enlighten naysayers by explaining what's in an ecig. The typical vape contains PG, VG, nicotine, and flavors. Nicotine is considered to be magnitudes safer than smoking since it's the primary ingredient in a vape, and doesn't contain the parts of tobacco that are burned, creating smoke. Only the nicotine is used in vape juice and none of the products of combustion that cause harm. We heat the nicotine, PG, VG, and flavors in our vape and the rest of tobacco is discarded when the nicotine is extracted from tobacco. The dangerous part of whole tobacco is all the chemicals of combustion that result from burning tobacco leaves and inhaling the smoke. There's no smoke in a vape product, it's all steam from heated PG and VG, both of which are water soluble.

Thanks Dave, though I already knew all that, it just seems to be that doctors trust what they hear from the CDC, that says "they don't know if vaping is safer or worse than tobacco" when they know damn well it was invented to deliver nicotine in a relatively safe manor, and that one kills 100's of 1000's of users while the other has killed none... why is it that they don't just say that?

Doctors tend to dispense advice on the safe side and that's a good policy. If they aren't familiar with a med or a practice that their patients are involved in (like vaping), they recommend abstaining. Some doctors agree that vaping is much better than smoking once they look into it and find that the only "bad" thing is nicotine. OTOH, almost all doctors are on board with nicotine based quit smoking products. Their goal is to get patients off the cigarettes.

If vaping takes away burning tobacco, then they generally will agree that vaping i a good next step after quitting smoking. Of course, they see vaping as a temporary action that should be stopped once the patient lowers the nic level over time. We view vaping as a safe way to continue the actions of smoking that utilizes safe chemicals to produce steam that looks like smoke and provides nicotine satisfaction.
