Forum pages loading VERY slow lately

I know the server was updated a few months ago, and for a while it was fine. Pages would load quick when clicking on a link to another thread. But for the past 2 weeks or so, I've noticed that annoying lag happening more frequently.
It's happening right now, and it's 3am local time. Currently just under 250 people browsing the forum. Just wondering what's going on?

Hey there,

3am at your local time may well be the time at which the server does its nightly backup.

Thanks for the quick reply Smokey. But its happened at various times during the day, as well as the evening. No type of pattern. It's happened when I've only had only a few, or somethimes several ecf pages open. 5 or 10 minutes later, it's back to normal. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing like it was before the server change. But it has been happening once or twice a day, and I was just curious. Not really a big deal though.

I find its slow around peak periods, but I guess thats as expected, and he forum is getting busier daily too - peak for me is anytime between 9pm EST and 2am EST .

Yes, we are definitely going to add a new server asap. There are certainly slowdowns at peak times - I get them too. Bear in mind that a number of automated processes also take place hourly, which probably add to the load for the few minutes in which they run.

Sorry about this - we didn't predict the massive rise of new visitors after the new year.

Well.. I haven't told 1 person about ecf. I've told..... hmmm... I'd say 50 in the last month. Even if the avg person only sends 10ppl here /mo...

Yup. I'd call that exponential!

We had 1523 new members in 2 weeks. Now it makes me want to look every day! Even since that post, we've had 143 new members....wonder what it will be by the end of the day?

And, we're almost to the million mark on forum post count:
Threads: 59,222, Posts: 929,113, Members: 29,116, Active Members: 7,850

And how about this?: Most users ever online was 725, 01-25-2010 at 06:43 PM.

725 at once??? Now maybe we can see why the server drags sometimes! Woo hoo!

BTW...this info can be found on the front page, way at the bottom for anyone who is curious.
