PLOS ONE: Metal and Silicate Particles Including Nanoparticles Are Present in Electronic Cigarette Cartomizer Fluid and Aerosol
----snippit
[h=4]Conclusion[/h] Cartomizer aerosol from a leading manufacturer of EC contained metals, silicate beads, and nanoparticles. Poor solder joints appear to have contributed to the presence of tin in the aerosol. In cytotoxicity tests, cartomizer fluid containing tin particles inhibited attachment and survival of hPF. Other metals likely came from the wires (copper, nickel, silver) and other metal components used in the cartomizers, while silicate particles appeared to come from the fiberglass wicks. While the outer fibers filtered out many of the tin particles, significant amounts of tin, other metals, and silicate beads escaped into the aerosol and would result in human exposure, in some cases probably greater than a conventional cigarette user would experience. These data should be helpful to individuals who are concerned with the health risks associated with EC use, to health care personnel advising EC users, and to policy makers. The presence of silicate particles and metal elements in EC aerosol may help guide manufacturers in selection of materials for use in EC products and in their quality control procedures.

also since im new and cant post...in the health section theres ppl talking about dental problems. Heres some solutions:
1. Oil pulling - daily
2. warm salt water or baking soda rinses/pulling
3. floss the teeth you want to keep, multiple times daily
4. dont drink soda or eat candy
5. eat your greens!
6. dr collins restore toothpaste w/novamin
7. chewing on garlic can help relieve toothache temporarily, but be careful it can burn ur mouth tissue
8. brush after every meal, and dont brush too hard
9. get ur blood pumping, do some exercise regularly!

oral health is highly representative of full body health! take care

To be honest, I'm not at all surprised we would be getting some of those from vaping. After all, we are sucking on a mechanical object made of various metal, plastics, and cotton fibers ...but when you compare that to the alternative - analogs with thousands of chemicals (most having nothing to do with the tobacco, paper, and filter they are made with), which is the better choice? Obviously, in the minds of some people who produce these kinds of 'studies', the best choice is to NOT smoke, NOT vape, and live in a plastic bubble all your life - wait, not plastic, that's dangerous ...maybe a bubble made from 100% pure, filtered, clean AIR, where everything we touch is sterilized.

While the outer fibers filtered out many of the tin particles, significant amounts of tin, other metals, and silicate beads escaped into the aerosol and would result in human exposure, in some cases probably greater than a conventional cigarette user would experience.

I didn't read the link - like Nicadmus said, way too early in the morning for that - but the above statement kind of jumped out at me - specifically the word, "probably". That word alone sends up a huge, red, "propoganda" flag to me. What? You don't know? Then your 'study' is useless. Sure, vaping ...maybe, probably ...does have more of those chemicals than analogs, but I can point to 2000+ other chemicals that analogs have more than e-cigs and I'm not even a scientist.

Well, this study doesn't do much for me, since they only tested Carts...if one was going to do a real study of E cigs, you'd think they'd realize there is a heck of a lot more delivery devices out there besides Carts. They are saying in this study, that this is for Ecigs...they really need to point out, a lot more clearly, and more often, that this was just testing done on Carts...not Clearos, RBA/RDA and the list goes on. For a new person just starting out or looking for info before they start out, this study makes it sound like this is the only delivery device that ecigs use...when clearly this is not the case.

"...In addition, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found diethylene glycol, a toxic chemical that can cause death, in one EC cartridge

If that was the case, the why in heck did they not list the suppliers that they got these carts from? What I find oh so funny, is that the FDA wants to say this...but look at how many chemicals are in a Traditional Cig that can kill you! Why are they not concerned with that??

I am glad you posted this study though...just made me realize all the more, what a great decision it was for me to stop using the Silica Wicks that come with tanks and build my own heads using Cotton wick.
