So I have a few different excaliburs -- regular size and Super, 2ml and 6ml respectively. Some of them tend to leak out of the bottom seam (not battery connection), and most of them seem to have wicking problems, depending on how lucky you got with the innards. Here's a solution to both:
1. Replace the bottom o-ring with a big fat rubber one. That will stop leaking from the bottom seam, and will raise the tank up about 1mm on the innards.
2. Take the soft cap off the innards, and cut two corners into the bottom of it, about 1.5-2mm, right where the wicks come out. That should help with the wicking. So far does not cause them to leak out of the battery connection.
3. Here's the cool part that I'm rather proud of. Take a carto condom, and cut off the top, making a 3-4 mm cap out of it. Cut a hole in the top of the cap where the carto plug normally is. That will fit perfectly onto the soft cap that came with the innards, will seal it better with the top (since step 1 raised the top a bit), and will seal it to the sides better so it doesn't leak even when upside down.
Seems to work for both big and regular size tanks. Sounds of fiddly for a cheap toy, but they look too cool to pass, and it actually only takes a few minutes.
Will post pictures tomorrow when I have my camera handy. I assure you, even though pictures are for the little tank (what I have loaded currently), the big excalibur/apollo works exactly the same way.
