So, I love the form factor of the iStick 50 and the 4400 mah battery life, but would like to start tinkering with nickel coils and the temperature control of the dna 40 chip. Has anyone tried to retrofit an iStick 50 with a dna 40 chip, or any idea how difficult or even dangerous this may be? I am confident with soldering, as I have made guitar effect pedals and wired electric guitars in the past. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have considered this. It wouldn't be too terribly difficult to do. It's the buttons that are the hard part. That side firing button on the 50w is soldered to a circuit board at a 90 degree angle. If you take the fire button off the dna 40 board it will fit in between the two batteries by removing a bit of foam and the screen will fold up toward the glass. It's just a matter of affixing the screen to that spot. It's doable, but quite a bit of work. You'll be butchering the eleaf boards in the process. There are two of them in there soldered together. Very ingenious design, but a ..... to mod another board into.

As a side note, the way the 510 connection is on the isticks, it may have some undesired results in using nickel coils. Refinement could be a problem.
