Hey all the reason I am starting this post is because
as we make the transition from analogs do vaping
I would like to know what others have gone through
or are going through.

I am on day 6. My reason for wanting to know is because when I woke up
this morning I had a very strong urge for an analog. Of course since
I didn't have any I started vaping.
My only guess is that while I am still getting the nicotene
is that my body is detoxing the other crap that is in analogs.

Please share I am sure that this will help the very very new
such as myself and others understand the transition process
better helping us all have continued success....

Thanks

I'm on my fourth week. The night I bought my eGo knockoff was the last night I burnt tobacco. A friend of mine let me try his NJOY one night and I thought that it might actually work for me so I bought one. That very night I went to this store that sold gift cards and Crocs of all things plus e-cig stuff. I spent a gazillion dollars on a "eGo" kit and a 50ml bottle of juice that I thought tasted great at the time (now it tastes like mildewed sock that has been composted with limburger cheese). Anyway the trick for me was to up my nic level a step above what I was getting from analogs. It was actually easy for me to make the transition, and that was from 30 + years of MBL's/Reds.

I have not had cravings, but I have had thoughts pop in my head. Like when I'm in my car at a stoplight I think; "Time to light up". Then I remember I've quit and grab my vape machine. So no cravings, just old thoughts and behavior patterns like thinking I need to not forget my lighter when I leave the house.

Over these almost four weeks, I've had some mild headaches that have passed now. I have also felt fatigued at times - more so than usual. Other than those, just coughing up stuff that resembles escargot.

On the positive side, I breathe better and sleep better already. My taste and smell is returning. I can vape in the house and at my desk at work. I've helped several people switch from analogs to vaping. My breath, clothes, fingers don't smell like s**t, and my car doesn't look like someone had a dandruff attack in it. I've made a lot of new friends in this new culture - a lot of awesome supporting new friends. :)

Congratulations on 6! Don't look back - vaping is so much better in so many ways!

It was easy enough that in hindsight had I left it alone, I think I might have actually tapered on off and quit without making any conscious choice to do so. BUT, I am not 100% positive of that. I might also have continued smoking (albeit less), as my primary nic fix, with my PV as my crutch and backup method. The PV might have remained "second best." For me, I think I had to make that choice. It wasn't hard. It wasn't a big struggle, that choice. But I still had to make it. Does that make sense?

I definitely understand.

Today is day 2 for me. I bought a couple of those Blu disposable cigs from the tobacco store when I was buying my analogs. I liked the idea but it wasn't enough for me. Then I decided to go and but a good eGo starter kit. I got that Tuesday and made it yesterday without a analog and today haven't even thought of one. Now my eGo is right in my hand but I love the clean feeling I have right now!

Way to go man congrats.........................................................:toast:

U know u honestly gave me an xtra boost of inspiration

My first kit was a blu, and man can I say it SUCKED, it did no help in getting me off the analogs...but then I met a buddy who had a really cool looking mod, and he pointed me to the store that was only 20 minutes away electronicstix...I went in and they set me up with a cylon, some cartos, and some juice...and the second i found that juice i enjoyed i was hooked, but i didn't just stop, i weaned off, i went from 2 packs a day the first week to a pack and a half the next week, and so on from there, i've been vaping for about a year now, but had a relapse around 20 days ago...but hey, it was one analog opposed to the two packs i used to be smoking so it's great! I've seen a lot of people on here stop completely when they got their vapor kits, wasn't the case for me, but hey, it's whatever gets you off the stinkies.

Considering I quit smoking over 14 years ago and started vaping about a month ago; I had no issues other than getting addicted to nicotine all over again. Mission accomplished.

Lol, I want to add everyone has been inspiring. But seeing MemphisMyst coming in and inquiring and then going for it just added that xtra umph

Thanks for that post MartiP! I smoked for ~35 years up until 18MAY13 without ever trying to quit. Your post has put a lot of perspective to how I'm feeling with the sickness, panic attacks etc.

About 3 weeks ago I ordered a blu premium100 kit which took it's sweet darn time to arrive. I got anxious to try vaping so I bought one of the blu disposables. I really liked it and could not wait for the kit to arrive. At this point I was still smoking and vaping. I bought another of the disposables and that Saturday (18MAY), I smoked my last 3 analogs and told my wife never to clean the ashtray that still has the butts in it so that I am reminded. The following week the kit arrived and that was that. I have no desire to smoke a stinky at all.
Got some juices that I like and have ordered a bunch of carts. I don't see myself going back......ever.

You're quite welcome! I don't want you to get discouraged. A lot of people here (including me) have tried (and even succeeded) in quitting before, so when we rave about how easy peasy it was with vaping, we are comparing it to the horrors of trying to quit in other ways. Yes, it was remarkably easy for me, compared to other methods. It was astounding. But that doesn't mean I didn't have to choose. Speaking only for me, I did have to decide. I just didn't have to deal with the white-knuckled misery effort of battling overwhelming cravings like the past. Everyone is different. Just do what works best for you. You'll find most people here are not the judgemental sort. :)

When my ecig came in the mail, I smoked two cigarettes. For several years I had thought that cigs tasted NASTY. When I smoked my last cig, I thought vaping tasted better. That was it. Early on I hyper-vaped at times when I felt that cig tug. There have only been two times in over 2 1/2 years that I was truly considering buying a pack, but I never have. And I cannot stand the smell of cigs now.

Best wishes!

You know, I think we call it "easy" because compared to every other "cessation" thing, it is. But, by itself, the switch may not be "easy". It can have some difficulties. I know my sleep habits (for one) went absolutely bonkers and are just now starting to level off. I mean, I sleep great. Better than in years. But when I fall asleep and when I'm really awake (even if out of bed, not necessarily "awake") has been all over the place. Had nutty bursts of energy early on then hit a week where I could have slept non-stop.

Still, compared to all those other times? This is a cake walk. But, you're right, it's "relatively speaking". Some times, it's been not so easy. Like the past few days, I've had this irritating... call it, "longing" for a cigarette. Sort of an almost wistful, "Gosh I miss it" thing.

Weird. Have to distract my fool self to get it to go away. Fortunately, I can.

Come to think, that's probably why I post to ECF in semi-maniacal "bursts". Distracting myself. I've had that "gosh I miss smoking" thing crop up several times today...

I bought my tornado tank from a B&M about 35 minutes away on May 6th after hearing my brother go on and on about vaping for over a month. I had smoked for 35 years and always enjoyed smoking. The past few years, however, I have not enjoyed how it makes me smell. And the commercials, oh goodness, when they show a person with a hole in their throat or their child having to give them a bath, well, let's just say those commercials can put this little voice in the back of your head. Even after all of those years of smoking I never really had a smoker's cough, I was very rarely ever ill, I just didn't feel the effects of smoking.....except for the shortness of breath that has started to plague me after doing simple things like making the bed! So, anyway, I bought my kit with the thought that I WAS going to quit analogs, but I didn't call them "real" cigarettes, and I didn't set a time-line to quit. I just went from a PAD to 5 the first day, 4 the next, 3 over the next couple of days to 1 for 2 days! I smoked my last full cigarette on May 12th at 10:00am...almost 2 weeks after that (last Friday) I lit one in my car....I don't even know why really...just to see if it tasted awful...and it did. Now I don't know if it's because they were sitting in my car for 2 weeks, in the console and heat??? I still have a pack in the freezer and I still want one occasionally, but I don't. My husband still smokes and if I find myself wanting to light up I tell myself that I will just vape for a few and see if the wanting goes away...and it does :). I haven't found the set-up or juice or nic level that is perfect for me so a lot of times I am vaping yuck, but I keep on and tell myself that if ALL these people can find their "sweet spot" so can I.

It's been 3 weeks now since I started vaping again to the day. And it's been 20 days since my last analog. I don't crave analogs at all really.
When I smoked, I had a little over half a pack a day. (probably 2 packs in 3 days) But for the last few months I smoked cigs from the indian reserve (Seneca's). And to be honest, I don't know if they have as much (or more) "crap" in them as say, Camel Lights, which I smoked before.
What I do know for certain, is that I vape more then I smoked. I chain vape quite a lot at home. At work I'm good, but there I keep busy.
But then, this stuff tastes so darn good :). That last analog 20 days ago didn't even taste so good after only 1 day of vaping.
Anyway, all I know is, I don't want to go back to smoking. And if chain vaping is what it takes, then so be it. I just hope I can keep this up. And with luck I'll be able to lower the nic content too. Which, btw, is at 18mg right now.

I started smoking 7 years ago and smoked Camel Light 99s, half a pack a day. I started with the ecigs with the interchangeable flavored filters and noticed that I was still smoking regular analogs but just not as much. Once I noticed that they weren't working I stopped them all together. My husband got 2 starter kits of the vapors and right away it cut me down to 2-4 analogs a day and that was with ejuice that tasted similar to the Camel lights. At our local vape shop she suggested changing the flavor to a favorite dessert and that should help in giving up the analogs because when I would go smoke one it would taste gross compared to the ejuice. It made a little sense so I gave it a try and got Chocolate Mint, which resembled Thin Mint cookies. Within 2 days I gave up analogs completely. I didn't crave them at all as it was more of a routine thing for me. When I would normally smoke I would feel like I was forgetting to do something, which drives me crazy. What I did to break this feeling was to take the vapor with me into the garage, where we used to smoke that way it still felt like I was following my routine. After the first week, I have no problems. I thought it would be a lot harder to quit because my mother-in-law smokes still and the garage is right by my bedroom door and thought the smell of an analog would drive me crazy, and I was right but it was driving me crazy because I can't stand the smell now. I have begun to try to switch family members over to vaping and so far those family members are proud that my husband and I have gone this long without analogs. We have already saved quite a bit of money and I am so happy that we decided to make this change.

My husband had been talking about switching to vaping for 6 months and I never really paid attention to him. Last week we were in our local mall for a totally unrelated errand and I thought I'd walk into our local vape store to check it out and ask some questions. Two hours later, I walked out vaping. The guy at my local store told me I couldn't vape and smoke so I gave my husband my cigarettes and off I went. He has since switched to vaping as well.

I have had some cravings for cigarettes but haven't given in. I figure if I've made it a week, I can make it another week, and then a month, and so on. I am struggling to figure out how much to vape and I think I've overdone it a few times with the nicotine so the next time I'm in our local store, I'm going to step down a level (I'm currently at 24mg) to 18mg or less. This way, I can vape as much as I do now but with fewer side effects.

After 40years of smoking I bought a ego kit to try and cut back on my PAD habit. It was an easy transition to vaping. It was so easy that the first day I only smoked 4 cigs. When Monday morning came and I was getting ready for work, I decided to leave the cigs at home, and that worked out quite well. For the rest of the week I did the same. After a week of vaping I only smoked 14 cigs. I didn`t really plan on quiting, but I was enjoying vaping. I remember that last cig tasting like absolute crap. Now I`m almost 9 months without a cig and I feel great. IMHO, if I can do it, anybody can. Congrats on your 6 days and counting.

Quit in 2009. Quit in 2011. Quit in February 2013. Difference this time is the strength and available flavors of the e-juice AND battery power and ease of delivery. I could never drip enough to satisfy my cravings in 2011. Battery power is 2009 required hoards of batteries and was a huge hassle. Ego's and clearomizers did it for me this time. I've upgraded to more battery power, more features, more, more, more, but the juice, battery and delivery is why I was able to start vaping this time and finally power through the cravings. You do have to want to quit, and armed with today's better starting equipment, I was able to overcome a 3 PAD habit for 30 years. No one is more surprised than me that I made it. You can do it!
