It seems to me the vapor is a bit rough on the mouth and lungs at first. Have something to drink when vaping and try not to get the atomizer too hot at first. I kno the throat hit and large clouds of smoke is more satisfying.. but it can take a bit to get used to...

Its not cuz you haven't smoked. Its just your body not used to this new way to take in your beloved nicotine.

This is my opinion.... taken from my experience

heres a question ... is there any issue with mixing flavors that you have? i accidentally did it and i mixed a juice i was having trouble with and a juice that i was vaping for the past three days and it tastes delicious and no problems with it .... just wondering i knwo it sounds stupid im sure there isn't any kind of issue here based on preference but i just want to make sure

Nothing wrong with that. The flavors I got when I first bought my kit are too sweet for me, nothing like tobacco. I've bought several tobacco juices since, and I like those better overall, but I hate to just waste the sweeter juice - and at least one of the tobacco flavors is actually stronger/heavier than I'd like. So I've been mixing right and left, in my ego Tank. Sometimes I add from one bottle, sometimes from another, sometimes I put a few drops from one bottle and a few from another.

When I first started vaping four months ago, I had no idea what I was in for in terms of detox. I smoked for 22 years and I never tried to stop smoking ever. Even though my choice of flavor and strength of nicotine were satisfying to me, I found I had strange things happening to me. The first thing I noticed was some irritability. Even though I was getting my nic fix, there was still the shift away from the analogs. I didn't know I was irritable until I realized I was snapping at people a little bit during my first two weeks. I was surprised. "Oh, hmm. I guess this is part of the changes that go with not smoking." Once I figured it out, I just told myself it was natural. That irritability passed.
Next was the water retention. I had swelling in my ankles and hands. I read on the forums and realized I wasn't drinking enough water. Once I started with lots of water, I was fine and my feet came back to normal. I realize water retention can be a sign of other health problems. Water retention is nothing to play around with at all. For me personally, I chose to wait and see. I also read an article about how water retention for a few days after quitting smoking was something to be considered as a potential symptom of the body cleaning itself out. Since I had never quit before, I decided to wait it out.

I had a ton of sinus drainage. Always clearing my throat. Some folks have said this could be a sign of a particular flavor reacting with the body. This, too, passed after a couple of weeks.

The last thing that happened to me was very strange and I don't think it was a sign of detox. When I started vaping, I was using automatic batteries. These are batteries that turn on when you inhale. I loved automatic batteries. After a week of vaping, I noticed my left ear ringing. After a few weeks of detective work and process of elimination, I discovered that using manual batteries might solve this problem. Manual batteries are batteries that activate with a press of a button instead of via inhaling. For me, the automatic batteries created a tightness and pressure in my sinuses, at my temples and in my neck, jaw and chest. I found that once I began using manual batteries and began massaging my temples, the area just at the bridge of my nose, as well as the left side of my neck, the ringing stopped. I have always had sensitivity to pressure changes in my ears. I think there is something about drawing on KR808 automatic batteries that makes me have a lot of head pressure.

After I figured out all of these strange idiosyncrasies, my vaping experience got a whole lot better. I'm no doctor, so I can't speak to anyone else's situations, but for me, these things were all just a part of my journey through vaping. Four months later, I feel terrific!

Congrats on making it through. It can be a pain (literally) for some, but thankfully it never lasts too long and the other end of it feels much better -- and it keeps getting better from there. Just do yourself a favor when your sense of taste really starts coming back: Be careful with the spicy foods. They're going to start tasting a lot spicier than you remember. :)

Good luck with the lower nic. You probably won't need much -- if you got through that you'll probably find acclimating yourself to lower nic levels pretty easy.

Your experience is pretty common, at least with regard to giving up nicotine itself. General experience has been that nicotine in and of itself actually isn't tremendously hard to get yourself off of -- not nearly so much as trying to quit cigarettes, where the nicotine gets a happy boost from the MAOIs. Without the MAOIs, nicotine's addictive qualities are a fair bit milder and easier to deal with in isolation like that. I'm not ready to take that step yet -- nor am I sure I will be, as I'm really all about the throat hit, and the less nic there is, the less of that you get, so ... I guess I'll see if and when I come to that bridge. But if I don't, I'm okay with that. I know at least that nicotine isn't especially harmful -- it's not good, but it's not terribly bad either, and nothing the body can't handle -- and it'll let you know if you're taking more than it can handle. So, really, I'm totally fine with vaping. I really like it, in fact, and really don't feel the need or desire to quit or even reduce the nic.

It's nice being able to do something that's better than smoking and be able to do it pretty well guilt-free. There are precious few pleasures in life, and I'd rather like to keep this one.

I didn't quite get that same V8 moment, but when I did finally get my kit and try it, I knew that was it. I mean, I liked smoking, I just didn't like everything that went with it. Since E-cigs get rid of all the bad crap, I really don't have any desire to stop. I enjoy it, and it's not doing much to me, so as long as I'm stocked with juice and cartos I'm a happy man.

I'm there with you... Just been vaping a week after 38 years of Marlboros... I have had the throat gig and did read about the dilution of PG and tried it... It did work for me. This site has been a wealth of great information.

i think i may have gotten overwhelmed and put my PV down without the people on this site ... they really help sort through all the crap out there
