It sounds like you may have too high expectations from the whole thing. That's not a slam, I went through the same thing. Reading on forums how much people just LUUUUUV vaping - well, I never did and (despite trying lots of different juices and delivery methods) never found myself looking forward to a vape the way I once looked forward to a smoke. I just felt like I was missing out on something.
It wasn't until I changed mindsets that I found satisfaction. It's like watching foodies eat - they roll their eyes and moan as they lay back looking weak in the knees. Eating the same stuff, I'm like, "Yeah, it's good.", but that's all. Anyway, I stopped looking at vaping as something that could potentially bring me orgasmic pleasure and something I had to put up with so I wouldn't want to smoke. After all, you never hear people rave about how great a patch feels stuck to their skin. Nowadays vaping still doesn't make me want to pee myself, but I'm content and happy not to be smoking.
For the record, here's my impressions on the best vapes:
Unless you want high wattage, battery doesn't matter much. It's all about form and mAh (though I do really like automatics, which is often treated as heresy around here).
For me the only real criterion when choosing a juice is nic and throat hit. Since you don't really taste the juice (It's more like you smell it), as long as I don't actively dislike it, it's fine.
The most consistent delivery method I've encountered was 808 prefilled cartos. You're limited in juice choice, but in my experience, they're the exact same vape from full to dry.
The "best" vape for me has been clearos. I like a hot vape and a top coil clearo provides that. The drawback at this point is that they're inconsistent. One won't leak at all and the next will leak catastrophically, one will overwick and sputter and the next will need a slit cut in the silicon gasket to wick properly.
The setup I've settled on is ego style batteries (I like knockoffs. Some might say they're lower quality (and they could be right), but I can get 2 for ten bucks if I'm willing to wait for delivery from China). I use CE4 clearos and just accept that I'll get one that overwicks or leaks every now and then. I'm not a wealthy man, but I can afford to throw $2 away every now and then. For juice, I generally go with Hangsen menthol, though I keep a bottle of DKtab around because I'll occasionally crave the aftertaste of it.
