So here's the deal, I love my Odysseus, but I'm frustrated as hell with it right now. Between the leaking in large mode, that I can't stop, no matter what I try, and can't figure out why it does it. Today I go to replace one of my ceramics with the new one that fits (the second new one doesn't fit) I put the little nut inside of it, and put the center pin in, I start screwing them together... in less than a full turn the ceramic has already broken in half :( I've lost more juice, time and patience with this thing than I have. I want my iAtty back :(

I appreciate it guys! I was just completely frustrated earlier, and actually the broken ceramic has been working so far. I also have the other Odysseus who's ceramic is working good... I just got PO'd and then the forum went down immediately as I posted, so I couldn't even explain that I was venting. Things will work themselves out they always do ;) There was just entirely too much going in on my life at that moment, the ceramic just broke the proverbial camels back.

Yes the ceramic broke, but the little stinker is working :) and that's all that matters! (No leaking either!!!)

Your frustration is shared..

My gripes, one of which might help you:

Every build I've made, the top lock nut works itself loose. Multiple times I've torn down and found this loose despite what I thought was pretty good hand tightening. If I re-adjust, things are fine for a bit, but eventually it's flooding and a teardown has this loose.. again. Maybe a simple washer between the locking ring and the mouth piece solves it.

The tank and the base ( GGTS ) while hand tightened, are well beyond that when I try to break things down.. While the tape on the vice gripes used to seperate these parts shows no signs of any metal showing, the parts in question say otherwise. ..sigh..

All this experience was at 6v.

Glad you got it working Rick, I really am. For all those that would give up the Iatty - you will wish you didn't if you do. I was considering selling at TS to pay for the Nickle I just bought. Glad I didn't and someone should have beat me if I had. Iatty is great and can be had no more. I suppose you could pu one, but who knows if it would be scratched or not.

Zogem, use Mr. Krinkles method of applying a generous slathering of vaseline in the base threads, it makes the insides considerably easier to disassemble. As for the nut coming loose, well mine hasn't tried that trick on me yet... I sure hope it didn't hear you
Thought I did that, but I'll try again next build.

And don't get me wrong, when this thing works, it's unmatched. Luckily, I've mastered UFS, so I'm already near vaping nirvana with the ikenvape attys.

I've also come to the conclusion I should not use tools. Ever. I feel strongly that disassembly of Odysseus should not a) Mar the finish b) draw blood. ;)

lol yeah, tools and GG's are no no's... you need the little rubber jar opener thingies you buy at the grocery store. 2 of them ;) One to hold the base, and the other to hold and unscrew the center guts... no marks left, no torn finger skin, and it doesn't matter if both sides are covered in juice. :) That's how I roll

In my defense, it was never metal to metal.. I'm not that daft. The jaws of the vice grips had copious amounts of electrical tape (Only becuase the soft jaw pliers lowes claimed to have didn't seem to exist in the store). The finish might just be "gunk" from the tape.. unsure until I polish.

Speaking of Lowe's, as I was leaving with my assorted misguided purchases, a young female voice called out "Would you like to buy some Girl Scout cookies?".. Like Odysseus and the call of the sirens, I was helpless, and with no one to tie me up. Add three boxes of cookies to the aforementioned misguided purchases.

Zogem, every time I go to Lowes or Home Depot for a $0.25 bolt or washer I come home with $150 worth of tools and stuff I didn't intend on buying.
I try not to:

Theorem of Z

I don't have the proper math tools that can describe the non-linear function of tool sharp edges, energy applied to/generated by said tool, and probable blood lose by Z.

Screwdrivers are generally safe.

I'm in second coil in Big mode with no leakage, since I tried Mr Krinkles' Vaseline trick on the small o-ring underneath the center pin between the Ody base.. I'm suspecting that when you take a drag, the extra air goes inside through that o-ring if it's not completely seal, and go through the wick on the side channels, and push the liquid out to the top wick, and come out from the center post.. I could be wrong though.. But wait, Im in a wrong thread!! Thought I was in "Odysseus Leakage" thread :p

Anyways, I'm glad that your broken ceramic works for you right now.
