So several days ago i posted on here I did not notice any symptoms. Well they all seemed to have hit me as of yesterday. So far I have notice several really bothersome side effects from stopping smoking.

1. Terrible mouth ulcers - OMG these are terrible. I cannot eat, drink, open mouth - i have a dozen of these things that started yesterday and are extremely painful. Holly Molly - I have never had these in my life.

2. Acid Reflux coming on strong - anything I eat I am having acid reflux - more so when i vape more.

3. Severe tiredness - Like i just cannot stay awake and feel so unbalanced.

4. Chest pain - sharp pains in chess area - then short bursts of pain, then tightness - coughing up BROWN phelm

5. Feeling like a ZOMBIE - almost out of touch with reality.

Its funny several days ago the first 5 days I was like wow this is easy. Now i can see all the common symptoms of stopping coming to light and its not pretty. But i know its worth it in the long run.

I'm going to wade in here and give you my thoughts on what you are experiencing El Che.

1, 2, and 4 = you are dehydrating - drink water, lots and lots of water. If you think you've had enough water, drink more. And yes, switching to all vg ejuice will help.

The brown phlegm is probably just all the crap from smokes that is finally making it's way out of your lungs.

3 and 5 = that's your body readjusting to not getting all the hundreds of chemicals from cigarettes and you are also not getting as much nicotine as you would with a cigarette.

The most common noted side effect of inhalation of e-liquid containing propylene glycol is a dry mouth, sore throat, and increased thirst. These symptoms usually last just a few days to a week as the body gets used to the propylene glycol. These symptoms can be elevated by drinking more water and liquids then usual for the first few weeks of using your e-cig.

There are many side effects of quitting smoking tobacco products. It is very easy for to attribute these quitting smoking side effects to e-cigs, when in fact they are the result of your bodies reaction to quitting smoking cigarettes.

Side effects of quitting smoking include: Bad breath, stomach pain, nausea, constipation, increased appetite, skin breakout's, increased coughing, insomnia, depression, vagueness, irritability, gas, dry throat, nasal drip, dizziness, vertigo.

These symptoms WILL pass, trust me - I went through the exact same thing.

I also had very bad dizzy spells for a while, so bad I went to my doctor who laughed at me. He said it was my brain readjusting to getting more oxygen after being starved for so long by the smokes! That passed too. :p

Keep going - don't stop vaping - switch to a vg only ejuice if you have to - but please don't stop trying to quit smoking.

I started vaping 2 years ago and completely stopped cigarettes about 1 month in.

It's completely worth it.:D :thumb:

Thanks Natasha yeah I think you may be right. From my understanding smoking cigs kept them from appearing so I probably had them all along. I started smoking when I was only a teen so maybe I had then then i dont know - I do not recall having them. Stress indeed seems to make them worse, I suspect quiting smoking is a stressor :)

Read this, maybe the lysine will help.

Thanks for the link, Natasha ... and the advice. There are a few of us (I have no clue how many) who do get those horrid huge mouth ulcers when we quit smoking. I'm convinced, after numerous tries at quitting before I found vaping, that it's started as a reaction to stress; I believe that because I'd get (and still do) small ones when I'm really stressed about this or that. However, sans ciggys, I'd get really large ones and usually at least 3 at a time; this was made worse by how long it took for them to go away ... sometimes a month or longer. Dentist couldn't help me, my physician had nothing to offer, except ... "eventually they'll stop". So, by the time the first three were beginning to heal up, I'd have 2-3 more ... and it was perfectly horrid!!

Ciggys helped them to heal, for some reason that I can't fathom. You'd think the nasty things would make them worse, right?

Anyway, I found vaping and didn't try to make myself just jump from smoking to vaping all at once. I eased off smoking (which probably reduced my stress) and vaped in between. When I finally found a juice that was supremely satisfying (thank you, SI!!!) and a delivery method that worked for me ... I quit smoking simply because vaping is now way more satisfying than the danged cancer sticks were.

That's just my experience and it probably doesn't have anything to do with yours. (except that I really really really sympathize!) Just thought I'd share to maybe encourage you a little. Hang in there, Che.

Thanks guys :) Yeah they have subsided a little. I still get them, but the ones I get now - usually 2-3 at a time are small and last 2 3 days tops, when they first started they lasted 2 weeks and so painful. I have a feeling they will eventually stop all together.

However I have developed something new - and its bothering way more then the ulcers :)

My uvula has dropped and it can now touch my tongue. The uvula is the thing that lies in between you tonsils at the back of your throat - and mine is touching my tongue and causes huge grief.

I am not sure if its a allergic reaction to PG, caused my ulcers (read it somewhere, virus, bacteria, dyhydration... ect.

Feels like a boulder is in my throat and I have these fears of throat cancer now.

A total wreck

I've had them twice, but long ago as a teenager. But I remember... they hurt. And every freaking thing you put in your mouth burns like crazy. My mother would get them ALOT. And many, many years ago, her DR would give her a small-pox booster shot once a year. And she never had them again afterwards. However, that booster is not really avail anymore, and she started getting them again. She swears by the Lysine, now.

Perhaps if one is prone to having these, the stress from switching to vaping and not smoking could certainly trigger them. I am HOPING that I will not have them!
