At least the low price will enable modders to cut them up and make something special out of them, and then we can build something that works with quality Parts. I work with a guy who is from china, and he refuses to buy chinese products. I asked him why and he stated american products are so much better than chinese, the initial savings is all it is. He looked at me as if it was a stupid question, and warned to never buy chinese products if I have the choice.

34 is a good gauge.

Those beads are most likely brass;they are probably using those because they had hot spots;I`d suggest to by-pass the no res wires and go with glass beads instead
They are not beads but clamps that join a small piece of nr wire to the coil to eliminate the hot spot on long leg run. Don't see how a glass beads would accomplish this as the wire would still be dry in the bead and easily get red (hot) and pop. As you can see in the pic the clamps are right up to the coil and no dry coil legs.

Too much theory,nt enough facts

If it works on other genesis,it will work on the smok.

I got one of these and for the money I'm wiling to experiment. I had no airflow at all on a VV gripper or Buzz Pro either. I did have an extension that worked to get airflow but, it looked really dumb. I solved it by doing two things. I extended the slot in the bottom to the edge and deepened it a little with a hacksaw. Then I filed down the threads on either end of the slot. It's aluminum. So it doesn't take a lot of work. Now it will draw and I'll bet it will draw on a Provari too.

Well I did some experimenting with mine yesterday. First I tried pulling the silica wick and replacing it with boiled 100% cotton yarn using the stock coil. Poor results with the same previous burnt dry taste. Next, I pulled the coil/wick and opened up one of the wick holes with a 3mm drill bit on my dremmel. I then played around with my first attempt at a genesis style vertical SS mesh wick. I don't have the proper size nr wire, glass beads or cig rolling paper though so I was getting hot spots. I will revisit that once I have the proper materials.

I then made a new coil of 34g nichrome 60 without any nr legs, wrapped around cotton yarn. Came out to 2.1ohms and is wicking much better. Vape taste is ok but I need to do something about the cap/drip tip as I am getting a yucky metal taste from it. Definitely works a lot better for me with the larger wick hole and cotton yarn.

Thanks for the info, Ratman.

I thought I saw a picture of these tanks where the drip tip was separate from the cap. Are they two separate pieces or just a single piece?

The VIVI is one peice, but you can use a top off the DCT from Smoktek and a 510 drip tip.

I hope that's the consensus for the majority of people; to have your conviction to supporting American producers. I hate that products like these can be copied to a T in Shenzhen and then mass-produced. Makes it incredibly difficult to compete with people like Hoogie, who have piles of cash to keep inventory on hand...
True indeed. the problem with the folks making highly sought after rebuildable attys or apv's in America is they come out with a well built and designed product then cant even come close to meeting the demand.

I dont see where these folks making these devices can complain about some one else filling the gap on product they cant or wont. Henry Ford started out with an idea and a small little shop to make his cars when he saw the demand,he expanded his company by hireing more employees more equipment larger factory and grew with the demand. Please if you are only going to make a few hundred devices a year and want to keep your day job, dont be surprised when someone else that can meet the demand comes out with a product that looks alot like your design.
Just my dollar that is almost worth 2 cents.
