G it's going to be HARD to get a curved wick without any wires touching, lol
BJ43,
You have eagle eyes. I needed to go back to my higher res picture, zoom in 200% and put on my reading glasses to see that. On inspection, you were spot on with the shorts under the curve. I suspected that earlier, but was gun shy on moving the coils around. I was able to get 3.2 ohms with some fixes, but the curve needed to be flattened to eliminate the wire touch. I lost coil shape with too much wire adjusting trying get the curve back. (I need to develop my coil skills...) I would have attached a picture, but things got a little ugly....
So I am now onto round 2 with a bit more care and proper break-in. Thanks.
This isn't the cheapest source for mesh, but it is a great site with great customer service, and shipping will be quick:Where's the best/cheapest/quickest place to get a few sheets of 400 ss mesh at, I've got 4 of these tanks, and while they aren't BAD, per se, with the silica wicks, I know they can be much better. The silica just doesn't wick quick enough for me, honestly, and all it takes is 1 bad hit to fry the back of my throat for 20 minutes. Thought about trying a double wick in one until I can get some mesh, thoughts? And is a genny type mesh setup a good idea for a chain vaper? I like to rip off about 10 hits in a row, will mesh wick that fast?
An SS mesh wick will definitely keep up with chain vaping. It helps if you roll a thin-walled wick with a large hole (like a little straw), but even small holed mesh wicks work well. It helps to hold your PV horizontally or almost horizontally, as well.

They usually send you some extra sheets when you buy from them. Shipping is about 6 days.
I bought 2 and they sent 5.
Well nothing lasts forever, lol. Went to change the coil to see if I could improve the TH, but it started shorting out again. The second tank shorts right away.![]()

Just an observation, and I could be wrong. But,from the photos,it looks like the wick is setting on the bottom plate.Could be causing your shorts????
It shouldn't matter if it sits on the bottom plate if the coil is not shorting to the wick, current wise it doesn't matter but it could restrict the capillary action thru the small center hole of the wick. Same goes that it is not necessary to oxidize the part of the wick that goes thru the top. If the setup is correct the coil is isolated from the wick and no current transfers from the coil to the wick and therefore no completed circuit.
