Yes, the early days saw many of us inside stores we never would have visited without taking up vaping, the live fish store for sure was an odd one for me.

OMG, are you from here??

Our first vape shop opened in 2007-08 as part of a pet shop in Vernon NY. My wife bought the kids e-cigs there that year at a 150 bucks a whack. I skipped that whole phase outright and they didn't work on the kids at all though son has been vaping more modern gear for 3 years now. Daughter still smokes.

I was just in that shop a couple weeks ago for no good reason. To be honest its where I bought all my early gear from. Good lord it stinks. I swear I smelled pet store the rest of the day.

Not from there but early attempts at a good vape saw some of us in the fish store looking for "blue foam" (a fish tank filter) and then again when ceramic wicks (another fish tank filter) were being explored.

I still have a bag of those ceramic fish sticks - never did get them to work quite right.

GAME CHANGERS:

My old "Big P" cartos. Held a whopping 6ml of juice, vaped with a PUNCH, and lasted freaking for-EVER (refill after refill after refill after...). I vaped these suckers for a full year or so, because I couldn't find anything that compared (get your minds outta da guttahs!).

Bad-boys were BIG, for sure. Those are Provis in 18650 mode that they're almost dwarfing. F'ugly too! Conversation starters though.

I still have about 10 unopened in their original wrappers. Saving them for... heck - I have NO idea!

I used some of those big-.... cartos for a hot minute, it must have been just before I got my first protank. Would never alternate colors like that, though. Makes me twitch.

I've had several "Game Changers" over the years starting with my first coil rebuild of a CE4 clearo with 32 gauge kanthal, the dryburning and shifting the silica wick from side to side to get some extra life but that first hit from the coil that you made is a memory being made. I've barely used a handful of factory heads since.
2nd was putting a wad of QTip cotton swab into a protank head replacing the silica....again eyes rolling back into head. I soon replaced cotton with hemp fiber and happily vape those PT's for a couple years.
The day the kanger subtank mini's showed(moment of silence for the awesome coops that have passed) with a much broader range of builds with lots of airflow than the protanks and kayfuns I was using. Both PT's and Kayfuns builds were restricted to amount of airflow they had. I was in full swing into rebuilding so they both got shelved.
Some of my first DIY juice mixing sessions of not sure what to do but build something to vape then partake on the bounty then realize that OMG their amazing, its been almost 3 years DIY and I can't pallet any vendor juices at all. Best part of DIY with my tobacs and NO sweeteners I have no dry mouth, cotton mouth or that unquenchable thirst that I was plagued with buying vendor juices.
Last is my discovery of rayon. Reading about it and how it performed I trolled all the hairdressers in town, found one that had that 44060 box, asked for a couple feet, wicked up a subtank mini then bumped up to a new level of vape nirvana. That was a couple years ago also still wicking only rayon in my builds.
Just about everything in my vaping journey I can consider a game changer from the first couple moments holding that ego/clearo kit and 555 24nic jug of juice, to my first vape using the Ecig then that first morning you don't have that smoke but only vape n coffee, live through it then realizing yesterday was your last smoke.....that's the game changer. Everything else I can consider the icing on the cake.

Wow.

LK, I never thought about the GAME CHANGERS that were on the negative side of the game.

THE BIG ONES for me were NLV and Provape. :(

(and IBT and Phiniac, too.)

Negative for me was Zenesis! I think they are some of the most beautiful, well made devices ever. They got me started in quality mods and were groundbreaking at the time. Unfortunately, the design had too many shortcomings for it to be anything but a passing fancy. Ultimately it lead me to looking for devices that didn't have the same major faults, which were leaking, tops came off too easily because they were held on with o-rings, always having to be kept upright when not in use and easy to break parts (all inherent traits of Genesis atties, at least at that time).

I guess I missed out on them bad boys. I had (have) some dual coil cartos that would hold 3ml (I believe) but 6ml? I would have been in F'ugly heaven.

A sreious answer would say the Revenger for starting me, the Inbox as my first sqonk, and the Pulse as my first mech. Each one of these is a mile marker in my vaping journey.

Sqonking though would be the biggest milestone. I once looked at it wondering who would want to squeeze a bottle to get juice, and a single battery? Now I honestly wonder why everyone isn't. I'm a newbie, I'm sure Reo folks have been shaking their heads far longer.

Oh, and ECF. Seriously. Changed what I know, how I learned, helped me overcome obstacles and gives me an outlet. Cause my wife is absolutely SICK of hearing about vaping.

Thank ya, Sir E! That particular black one rests in the great state of Texas, with @DancingHeretik . The satin silver, further west... > ;)

I still have one of each color V2 left, which were numbers 3 & 4 on my ProVari Hit Parade. They're never leaving.

Nice V2s. Love that satin one. ;) ;) ;) (Thank you. )

Y'welcome, KD. :)

LOL! Six years later; not much has changed.

Game changer for me was a Vamo and my first rebuildable a Taifun 1.
Until then it was many variations of the Ego, Spinner and PT2's and Vivi Nova's.
They were not really cutting it although I was mostly off cigs I did not feel it was for life until the Vamo and the rebuildables
