Despite it making me look like a dullard I had to post about it as I felt like I may not be the only one missing this ! Obviously new people to the tank either considering or having just purchased.

I don't want to derail this thread but Everyone here knows what good flavor is all about as such really trust this groups advice and opinions - i absolutely have to get something with pre made coils that isn't a bloody sub ohm tank and stands up at least for flavor due to my situation. If you have a recommendation can you pm me ? Right now I'm exploring the kabuki but I'm really not sold its that good. People are comparing it to a nautilus not what I'd consider good tanks. Let's keep it or if this thread so t can stay focused and thanks in advance for any and all advice

Kabuki is just a custom tank made to use the same BVC coils as the Aspire Nautilus, so I wouldn't expect it to act any different in terms of flavor. To get Gem/Erlk level flavor, someone has to come up with a better replacement coil. Maybe build something around a 2.5mm 0.07 ohm ni200 coil (or something with a different TCR). Unfortunately, manufacturers seem to be more interested in chasing buyers obsessed with clouds and fads like clapton coils, which don't improve the flavor of vaping.

I have a friend who only uses replacement coils and has bought a variety of different tanks. So far, nothing really beats the Nautilus for what it does, other than my rebuildable tanks like the Gem, Erlk, etc. I'd love for their to be a better replacement coil alternative though, as there are times when I'm too lazy or too busy to rebuild.

Please don't read into the fact that it uses Nautilus coils. Zen (the maker) has answered many questions in the Kabuki thread as well as the Provari Radius thread on this. I just got it 6 days ago and honestly haven't been tempted to use my Kayfun v4 since... I know the kv4 might not be the flavor chaser of the Gem, but it's pretty good itself.

Anyway - the maker compares the Nautilus coils to just being "the build" and a build can taste different in different devices.

I really do recommend the heck out of the Kabuki. The day I got it, I was almost angry! Haha it made me start to rethink everything I know!

For the record, I'm a pretty tight MTL (mouth to lung like hitting a cigarette) type of vaper. But I will say I'm shocked at how much vapor comes from the Kabuki. And I'm not drinking the Kool Aid or anything... I promise. I hardly believed the hype either...

Point being - don't judge the Kabuki by the Nautilus as a device. Those coils take on a whole new life in a Kabuki!

I picked up some stainless recently and was going to try a coil tonight. Curious if anyone else has tried stainless in the GEM and what their thoughts are.
I tried Kanthal, Ni and Ti in the GEM, but actually prefer SS, which I have been running for two weeks now. SS304, 27 g, 7 wraps contact coil around a 2.5 mm mandrel. Resulted in a 0.61 ohms resistance. Wicked with Cotton Bacon V2 in the second picture, but have subsequently wicked it with RxW.

Which brand wire are you using and which profile for the dna200 or no temp control?

I absolutely think stainless tastes the best out of everything in the market.

One thing I've noticed for contact coils. And this works for nickel too. If you wrap s little lose and wide enough the way the gem sits its will push the coil together to make a perfect contact cool.

That's Sid the two brands of stainless haven't worked well in temp control spaced or contact with the existing wire profiles from steam engine. If the city tact coils aren't perfect the sky's fry very quickly too which is when I fired out the loose wrap and let the gem do the heavy lifting

Been running the GEM on the SX Mini M class, inputting the TCR value manually. Wire came from Zivipf.de in Germany.

Inputting them manually vs downloading csv but still taking steam engine values? What's he benefit of entering them manually?
The SX Mini M class does not have a SS functionality/curve as for Ni and Ti, but now allows you to input a single TCR value for any wire, which as I understand is more linear than the csv file for DNA200 devices, which is more of a curve when implemented. If that makes sense.

When did they change that? Is that the new m class or an update to the 350j chip? I have a 350j boxer and hadn't heard about that!

?...but have subsequently wicked it with RxW.

Any tricks you've learned, I thought I had it figured out with RXW, but after the first successful try I haven't managed to make it work again. I'm not really sure now if there is much advantage to it in the GEM, my cleaning process took longer than replacing the wick.

after all the hollering about the beta versions, the 2.32 update is excellent, at least on the SX-m. Load it up and enjoy! Even the power boost modes work!

That's the same setup I am using. Would you mind sharing what you configured for offset and manual TCR when using the M Class and GEM with that coil? New to this firmware upgrade and there is not much information out yet on how to use this properly for SS. Thanks

This is awesome. Thank you! I had to return my opus 200. It has a ton of issues and they couldn't fix it. So the boxer is the big daddy I have now the other being an istick tc. Bit surprisingly the istick handles the gem better as it doesn't poll as often but I can't wait to get stainless in there. I just bought a pound of 28 gauge on eBay for $18. That's 2500 (HUNDRED!) feet so having this is as stated. Awesome!

My memory fails me what's RxW again? I'll Rem,beer this time? I have some rayon I bought on Amazon and it's not good. I can't seem to find it online at a decent price (not $10 for a foot lol)

You make a good point - not much advantage as you cannot dry burn in situ. My very fist attempt was with RxW, but it could not wick fast enough. Eventually I became fed up with struggling with any wicking and enlarged the juice holes to 2 mm. Much better. Decided to try RxW again and now it is perfect.

Set the manual TCR to 0.00105 for SS304. "Compensate temperature" at 25 C - set this to your room temperature as I understand it - with the upgrade this setting comes up just after you have locked in the resistance. Vaping between 10 and 20 J and at 220 C. Both Cotton Bacon V2 and RxW works for me with this.

I think I've thought of a RxW advantage for an upcoming trip! I'm going to be out and about all day for a long weekend, with the RxW I can use the bigger stainless tank and vape it down until it's dry with out worrying since I can't see the level. :)
