Ps: Or, your coil is obstructing its movement inside the chamber. Another reason for it to short out soon - if not already.

This is what I experienced on first coil install: read 0.14 on the ohm reader and 0.05 with the coil installed.

So, I did both, pushed the deck further in, as far as it would go, and, LOWERED the coil a bit.

Only then did I get a true coil reading of 0.12 on the SX Mini.

I don't have a coil on the second GEM (the one in the picture)

I must have two runaway GEMs if that's the case

Brother, the gap is supposed to be a hairline one. Just enough to wriggle-in your nail. Not as pronounced as it looks in your picture.

That picture is crazy up close, it's not a huge gap or anything...I can feel it hit the inward parts of the chamber that stop the deck from moving farther in...I've applied a good amount of pressure, it's right up against the chamber hangover, its impossible to go in farther (with no coil)

Havent had any issues in three days now...and I've been vaping a lot

Then it is fine. The length of the stud is roughly the same as the width of the base plate of the deck. They marry up perfectly.

Obviously no. Else, it'd then obstruct the free movement of the base adapter (whether the hybrid one or the 510ed).
Yeah, gotcha. The stud and deck base are exactly the sane height when married to the chamber...could swipe your finger across and not know there was a notch or stud ;)

Good then.
And for others to note: It shouldn't fall 'short' too. If the stud is flush with the bottom of the base plate of the deck - you're good.

And everyone, also remember to note:

The coil could short out under three conditions, with the GEM. The tolerances are such.
1. With the ceiling of the chimney. If the coil is too high, or the coil leg is protruding.
2. With the bottom of coil cup, in the deck's base. If it's sitting too low, or being pushed down for whatever reason.
3. With the sides of the wick channel. Usually would occur with larger OD coils / or with super thick wires.

qorax mentioned this somewhere in the thread and i'd just like to repeat it for those that missed it. The Gem is very efficient on juice, which i can confirm myself too now that i have one. Not many people mention juice consumption during their reviews but it's something i look for in an RTA. The Gem, Phenom, and Eviva-T all have great flavor imo and are excellent with juice efficiency.

OK I finally got some time to get this bad boy going on my WAEII.

Mark Bugs never ceases to amaze me. When the hybrid connector is adjusted correctly, the grips are equidistantly spaced from the display, and the air hole is exactly centered over the fire button !!!

I've found my sweet spot. 2 mm, 7 wraps, 28awg, 1.27 ohm. Coil inside the cup. Juice holes drilled out and this gem is perfect perfect perfect. This is the best vape out of an rta that I've ever had. Yummy.:thumbs:
No leaks. No constant fiddling around. Just vape and taste.
