I recieved my GEM today. While it looks beautiful, anyone else have an issue with the 510 base? Mine doesn't seem to tighten up enough. There's a small gap left that allows the AFC to move up & down enough to annoy me. The hybrid base tightens up fine.

You swapped the 510 pin before screwing on the 510 right? (silly question, but figured I'd ask anyways, lol)

I can see the pin of the AFC, which means it doesn't look like it is properly in the groove that is cut for it. Remove the 510 base, reseat the AFC properly with the pin in the groove, then reapply the 510 base.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I swapped the 510 pin and the AFC pin will seat properly. But as the 510 base won't seem to tighten enough, the AFC drops down a bit.
Have you checked the white insulator of the 510 adapter? And have you 'removed' the pos screw before threading-in the adapter (placing the pos screw 'after' threading in the adapter to its fullest)?

Does it tighten down fine with the hybrid base? If so, you may need to check the 510 base for any debris or a burr that might be in the threading.

Here's a pic without the build deck/pin installed and removing the AFC. That gap at the bottom isn't there with the hybrid deck.

Here's the inside of the 510 base

Is the air control ring pin properly lined up? Did you install the 21mm ring to the bottom of the 510 base?

For those that are having issues, it may be a good time to go here... GEM and scroll down the page to take a peek at the user manual...;)

Cheers dems,

Gona try a fresh build and snip em close to the post.
Are you using the GEM with a WAE in hybrid mode?
Is the screen saying "check atomizer" or "shorted"?
If its saying " check atomizer", then try backing out the positive pin in the hybrid connector.
Mine took about 3/4 turn counter clockwise to make a connection and work with my 15 month old daily used WAEII.
Otherwise, I am loving the GEM/WAE combo and will continue to be my daily primary Vape!!

OK I finally got some time to get this bad boy going on my WAEII.

Mark Bugs never ceases to amaze me. When the hybrid connector is adjusted correctly, the grips are equidistantly spaced from the display, and the air hole is exactly centered over the fire button !!!
