I wish I was alive during the 1880's in London. It would have bee fun to walk around saying things like "ow ya doin govena?" and "pip pip cheerio mate!" and then periodically breaking out into song with my fellow Chimney Sweeps. Good times! Although, I did have a great great uncle who was a little nuts and wreaked havoc back then as he went around chopping up whores after hours trying to study for his medical exams. That probably would have embarrassed the family a lot at the time and it would have been stress wondering if he was ever going to get caught. It's one thing to get caught chopping up whores but cheating on your medical exams in the 1880's, unforgivable! The family would have been shamed. Good thing no one ever knew it was him. I hear my great great great grandma beat his ... for getting blood and intestines on his clothes when she had to wash it out.

One of the benefits of hanging out with a Tennessean is that occasionally you are treated to an Appalachian colloquialism. This morning is one of those occasions.

It's colder'n a well digger's ....!

Or, if you prefer, it's colder'n a witch's titty in a brass bra on Halloween night doin' push-ups in the snow. I like the first one better, though. It's less common.

I thought my sidebar weather applet was broken this morning when it was stuck on 0° for a while. I looked a little later and it said 3°, and I said, "Oh. Great. It's warming up outside." I broke down and put on a long sleeve shirt today. This is some bull snot.

Part of me wishes, I had never come to Florida. I miss home. But, I am getting so spoiled by the weather. I don't know, if I can ever go back. I am told, my place at home looks beautiful right now. Snow covered. Untouched.

Wow. That *is* some bull snot. I can't imagine how that feels.
I was talking to a teacher friend in OKC this morning. She said they had cancelled school because of the cold (10 degrees). I asked about snow, ice etc. None, just cold. They never do that around here.

When it's this cold (10 degrees or less over night) in these parts, they will sometimes cancel school or, at least, start school a couple of hours late. I'm lead to believe it's because of either the difficulty of keeping the schools warm, or not wanting to incur the extra utility cost. Interesting stuff.
