Hello all you GG fans, I recently purchased a genesis style atomizer the DID and for the life of me can not get it to run properly. Ive made over a dozen wicks and went through who knows how many feet of kanthal wire to no avail. I kept getting hotspots, burnt flavor, provari errors, and little vapor. Anywho its a very well made device but its just not for me. Ive been wanting to get into a rebuildable atomizer but one that does not need constant fiddling and hassle.

I was wondering what your opinions are of how the oddy compares in difficulty in setting up vs a genesis atty. I'll be running on a mini provari. From all of the vids online it seems a lot easier, at least there's no hot spots or shorts to worry about.

TIA for any advice before I lay down some more $$$ : )

You cant compare Ody with any genesis device Shack. Ody is very easy to be build, it vapes immediately, no shorts, no leaks (if you handle the way you use the liquid control, something that no genesis atomizer has), it can be transformed with its updates to a CE2 tank, or to put it inside UFS, or to use a 510 atomizer or cartomizer in it, and it has very nice taste. Ody is a machine that works in any conditions in any environment. Its a real transformer:)

I have to agree with imeo. I spent close to 6 weeks tinkering with a Katana v2, and though I have no doubt the genisis stuff can be amazing, the Ody is simply easier to use. To put it into perspective, I built my first ever Ody last night, and it is working better then I was ever able to with the katana, even after hours and hours of fiddling.

It may not be for everyone, but so far this it the one for me.

Agreed handsdown, and I apologize for stirring up any sheet on my other Genesis post. I didn't imply that the Ody was better, thats subjective, all I said was that for me, the Genesis was very tough to dominate and I'm a mechanical engineer and I work on my own cars and guns so I'm not an all thumbs guys. I was just trying to reach out to potential people that may want to get into rebuildables that if you're having problems, don't give up,and give an Ody or Penny a shot.

For me, I built now 10 coils, carefully spaced out, 3 wraps, 4 wraps and 5 wraps and I still get hot spots, burnt flavor and leaks out of my Genesis. I'm glad other people are finding success with them but in my opinion, the fiddle factor and steep learning curve of the Genesis don't justify the ease of building a coil. Sorry I brought this up, not my intension to create disharmony in the group.

I took the genesis challenge and.failed after a month of attempts. The Ody can be built by a man in a full hand/finger cast and Vapes like a machine. Nothing vapes harder, cleaner or easier in my opinion.

I haven't told anyone this yet but I've been using the same Ody coil/wick since June 7th, with no wicking or burning issues. The last two weeks I've even used it at 6 volts...

I'd normally change my coil and wick every three fills, but this one is lasting forever for some reason...

the Ody v2 and penelope are my first GG rebuildables, before that i pretty used if not all most of the Genesis style attys out there and never really had a problem BUT these 2 (ody&p) are really the best rebuildable atomizers currently in the market and are the ones to beat :) in my opinion of course.

I havent try to use mesh with these 2 but i really dont see they can have a problem with, what makes these 2 the best ? build quality, easy to rebuild and fcking liquid control :p plus pretty much the only ones that wont piss on you (no leak).

I use still use my other genesis and will when im at home but if going out and feel i need to vape you can beat im only going to carry either odysseus of penelope.

No worries T, you did not stir up anything nor did you cause any discord buddy. Thats how you feel and you should be able to say so.

I too want to make clear the fact that I certainly don't want to start anything but I'm confused. I respect the fact that MrKrink likes nextel, a lot of people do. Just confused about the following and I just have to ask MrKrinkle.

You put in the Ody mesh which is designed for a wick and you love it yet you want to put in a Genesis wick which is designed for mesh. Just can't figure that out? Again I want to make clear that I intend no negative sentiments whatsoever just trying to understand the logic. If you like mesh in the Ody why would you not like it in the Genesis.

By the way I'm not a fan of Genesis types

maybe because genesis atomizers leak Steve?:)

Imeo as you know the Genesis by design leaks if not upright because it's got a gaping hole on top for the mesh. If you were to stuff and I mean stuff a thick length of wick it probably won't leak as bad but still I doubt it wouldn't leak at all. However if this is the thought behind the idea of wick in the Genesis I accept it. Given a thick enough wick and tackling the ordeal of getting it in the hole without stripping the wick I can see the possibility of trying it

Actually found that the Did rarely leaked so as long as you kept the fill screw on. Not putting down the Did or genesis attys at all as I'm sure there an amazing vape once you get em setup properly. Will give it another shot down the road but I need something to VAPE now without pulling my hair out !

I dont know how those atomizers are built, only from pictures Steve, so I dont have a serious personal opinion for sure
Yes that would certainly make the job of getting the wick through a tight hole a lot easier. The trouble is that most genesis types don't give you access once assembled to pull the wick in the tank when assembled because they're sealed. Given the right Genesis it could well work.

Gennies are a difficult attie to get working well because they have a few issues and any single one will make them unusable.

The biggest single issue with them is getting the ss mesh oxidised properly, this really needs to be done perfectly or else it will give you hotspots/burning taste/shorting and its not immediately obvious that the mesh is the problem. They also suffer from wicking issues as the wick can be too tight in the holes or too loose which will make them flood or else the coil can be wound too tight choking the wick causing bad wicking or too loose causing burning and some of them will never wick well and you have to tip them upside down when you want a vape to get some juice to the wick. You can make a U wick which I have in one of my genesis type atties and it helps but still doesnt cure it and they still need tipped to get juice to the coil.

You can get a top fed attie (I have one of these too) but then a lot of people dont like these as the vapor has further to travel to the mouthpiece/driptip which in turn makes them have a cool vape and a lot of people dont like the cool vape.

Ody and Penny on the other hand take you to do something pretty disastrously wrong for them not to work like a champ right from the first attempt and they dont leak where gennies do because of their design and there is no way around this.

To some Ody didnt hit as hard as some of the best gennies BUT Penny being smaller hits as hard as the hardest hitting genny out there, I own one of these gennies and honestly Penny hits as hard but has NONE of the issues gennies suffer from.

In short if I were to start over again with rebuildables what I would do is get a Penny first as you have a rebuildable that is easily built, works perfectly,is really frugal with juice consumption (some gennies absolutely guzzle juice at a terrific rate) and you wont be caught dying for a vape and cant get the damn thing working which I have seen on boards numerous times! and then dabble in gennies if you feel you really need to but in all my experience only the very very best gennies vape as well as Penny and honestly none vape better.
