Gennies are a difficult attie to get working well because they have a few issues and any single one will make them unusable.

The biggest single issue with them is getting the ss mesh oxidised properly, this really needs to be done perfectly or else it will give you hotspots/burning taste/shorting and its not immediately obvious that the mesh is the problem. They also suffer from wicking issues as the wick can be too tight in the holes or too loose which will make them flood or else the coil can be wound too tight choking the wick causing bad wicking or too loose causing burning and some of them will never wick well and you have to tip them upside down when you want a vape to get some juice to the wick. You can make a U wick which I have in one of my genesis type atties and it helps but still doesnt cure it and they still need tipped to get juice to the coil.

You can get a top fed attie (I have one of these too) but then a lot of people dont like these as the vapor has further to travel to the mouthpiece/driptip which in turn makes them have a cool vape and a lot of people dont like the cool vape.

Ody and Penny on the other hand take you to do something pretty disastrously wrong for them not to work like a champ right from the first attempt and they dont leak where gennies do because of their design and there is no way around this.

To some Ody didnt hit as hard as some of the best gennies BUT Penny being smaller hits as hard as the hardest hitting genny out there, I own one of these gennies and honestly Penny hits as hard but has NONE of the issues gennies suffer from.

In short if I were to start over again with rebuildables what I would do is get a Penny first as you have a rebuildable that is easily built, works perfectly,is really frugal with juice consumption (some gennies absolutely guzzle juice at a terrific rate) and you wont be caught dying for a vape and cant get the damn thing working which I have seen on boards numerous times! and then dabble in gennies if you feel you really need to but in all my experience only the very very best gennies vape as well as Penny and honestly none vape better.

Its statements like these that make me sane again and not lose all hope on using a rebuildable. I'll be posting back on my impressions about the Penny coming from a noob ex genesis owner :) Doing some research already I'm a little nervous about acquiring some wick, got plenty of wire to play with but only a few feet of wick doesn't give too much room for practice...hopefully imeo stockpiles on that stuff and sends it stateside :)

Hi Shack, Those gennies are notoriously difficult to get working right, after all you only have to have one single thing not completely right and your brain will be melted trying to figure out what is wrong.

If I were you I and I wanted to get that genny working I would take the ss out again and give it another blast of the heat a couple of times and then a couple more goes with burning the juice on it.

As a matter of interest did you fold flat one edge of the ss so that when you roll it the folded edge was on the outside if you know what I mean?

Yeah I made numerous wicks, different sizes as well thinking that the thicker wick was shorting by touching the sides of the hole. I oxidized by torching a quenching 6x and lit with juice 6x's overkill I know but wanted to rule that out as a variable for the shorts. Folded both sides of mesh as well. I actually was getting vapor and went through prob 6 tanks of juice, lol I was getting hot spots on the top coil mostly. Rebuilt the coil using several techniques but never could get a good vape off it. Adjusted the nuts as well. IMO it shouldn't be this difficult but it was my first rebuildable, so maybe it was me. I understand there's a learning curve to these things but man! Keeping my fingers crossed that the penny is a little more forgiving :)

Unless you like to change your wick out multiple times a day the wic it comes with should last you at least 20 days and I expect more to be in stock by then. Imeo is aware of the demand and is doing his best to keep up.

I agree S, fiddling about w/mesh and coils does take skills and patience. You just can't throw one together willy nilly and have it work.. Even then, some days the mesh and coils gives me a fit.

Getting an Odys or Penelope first is the best thing for everyone, People should master that before attempting genisis type attys.

Unfortunately a friend of mind gave me his genesis and I was having similar issues and lots of errors on my provari exactly more or less what Stackattack mentioned. I stood away from it and just used lava tanks (Boge cartos) and CE2 Map tanks. this was till I discovered the world of GG. When I did my research I wanted to get an Odysseus but it was already to late in the game and sold out so Bruce (from COV) said give Penelope a try. I then spoke with Imeo asking him if i would get the same result and he assured me I will so after that i was sold. I thought great it will do the same thing with 3ml juice except no expansion set like in Odysseus which I'm ok with. So I bought 2 Penelope from Bruce (COV) and when I tried it as most of you have already read in my previous posts not only did I enjoy it and loved it, I just couldn't believe on the results I got that ended up driving IMEO crazy on how much I enjoy and love Penelope.

I love this so much I’m in the process to order a 3rd one from Bruce. This piece of hardware is not made for everyone. You really have to be a vaping enthusiast to really appreciate the quality of work that Imeo has put into this and to experience the strength and taste of vapor this magnificent device offers is nothing short but breathtaking. As for me I know from experience. I build and design Pcs for high end gamers that want the best in graphics, speed, performance and when I provide a custom build to a person I see the love and appreciation they have on their faces. When they fire it up to test it out they are in a loss of words. I can relate to Imeo when he builds something I know he uses the highest quality parts to achieve that remarkable breath taking results and to keep it very affordable to please the customer. This is a passion and dedication that is very rare to find in people.

Shackattack I assure you won’t be disappointed and welcome to the GG club. You just got yourself a piece of hardware that worldly considered the Bentley\Royal Royce of E-Cigs. As someone said to me not every day a middle class person can have or afford something int his magnitude and when he does get to have that chance it’s a magnificent feeling. Congrats on your purchase and welcome again.
