Well, that's just it- if you don't tighten the connection enough, it will reduce the power (and heat) in your coil- and possibly could cause the center post of your atty to heat up. So it's essentially avoiding hot coils via reduced power, so far as I can see.

Even on the two genesis systems I have that use wrap-around posts, I clamp down on them with a pliers to ensure a good tight connection.

never had any issues of this PP heating up at all, believe me when i tell you that my connection to the top nut is never loose. now i definately do not use a pliers to clamp down, tightening the top nut as tight as you can with your fingers imo is plenty tight, its definately not going anywhere. this issue happened just once, and the only thing that was different was that in this particular instance i had tried a different way of wrapping, (one way around wick, another way around PP), this wrap may have not been the culprit, i dont really know, all i can say is that it was noticably hotter. when i re-coiled my regular way, (same direction on both) she didnt get hot. i would say that your theory might have valor, but before re-wrapping i checked eveything, nothing was loose for sure. who knows, like i said it could of been just a bad coil, although there was no hot spots, the coils were perfect. it just seemed to me a possibility of the different wrap. maybe next time i will try it again to see for sure. i always appreciate the feed backs, whether right or wrong they always help in some regards.

My Aga-T gets really really hot, but usually only when I take 4 or 5 vapes.... almost chain vaping.

I have an Aga-T and Aga-T+ and they both get hot.

I use 32awg Kanthal a1 with a 40x60mm wick.
I have zero hot-spots.... Im vaping and its fine. Taste/vapor/TH all are good.

Im at about 9 watts...

I have tried wrapping clockwise / counter-clockwise / and then clockwise but hooking the ground/top the opposite way.
They all get hot... I dont see a difference. Only thing I can see is maybe its because I am chain vaping.

I even trimmed down the coil/wick to sit under the center pin....before it was a mm or 2 above it.

Or maybe its this top cap...maybe the top cap isnt tall enough above the coils and keeps the heat.
Dont know.... would like to find out as at times I cannot even put my lips to it as it will burn me....

edit:
I will add that I have used the supplied nuts, as well as changing to a spring/washer setup.
Both get hot. I have used the nuts and tightend them with needlenose, and finger tight. No difference, and it seems I keep my same watts needed.
Same with the spring/washer, I am still using 9 watts and everything looks the same......

you know the theory of the wraps that i made is just that, not really sure what had happened. if you have tried wrapping the wick one way and continued the same way around the positive post, and with no change, then maybe it has nothing to do with it. i also have two other theorys about what can cause excessive heating. 99% of the time my gennys run warm at best, and i run them with 28g and really low resistances, 1 ohm or under, but a couple of times in the last 6 months or so one gets hot for some reason. in the end i recoil and its back to normal. but one time, if i remember correctly i had looped the wire going to the top nut all the way around the nut, as if it were reconnecting with the wire again. when i recoiled it again i made sure to just wrap the wire only 1/2 to 3/4 around. this helped the problem, but i never really knew if this was it. it may have been something else. i should of done it as an expierment to see if this was really the case, but didnt. also i think that if the wick is so tight into the wick hole it may cause some heat to the deck , thus causing some heat. not really sure. if your nuts are tight, like you say thats ok. your wick doesnt seem to high, that ok. the top cap cannot be to low, thats for sure. and if your wick is wet, then that cant be it. all and all to me it sounds like the wick is getting to hot, like its just not wicking, but you say its fine and your getting alot of vapor, so who knows. if all else fails try a more dense wick, add about another 20 mm to the mesh, maybe the wick you have just may not be keeping up and warming. good luck

i believe its just my brass did, it justs gets a little hotter than my other devices. i have been using my ac-9 mostly so going back to my brass did just felt hotter. its the only genny that is brass. my 2nd did is SS and doesnt get as hot. so my brass center post has solid rows of nuts, from bottom to top, i re-arranged the configuration to where there was a portion of the center post without a nut. first nut at deck plate then nothing until the top 2 nuts. this made a difference in the temp. so in a smaller device like the did maybe to much stuff on center post can generate a little more heat. thats my new theory.

Yep. The DiDalikes can get pretty warm, because of the brass top cap, and the fact that the top chamber is pretty small.
