Getsnus is gone... kind of

Well.. not actually gone, but they have been taken over by Northerner. Here is a thread at snuson that goes into it.

Getsnus No More

Prices have gone up, but the selection is now larger. Everything that Northerner has in there US warehouse. Even some nasal snuff. I have no personal opinions on this but no doubt related to the PACT act. Good news is everything is in stock.

Fredrik from Northerner stated that all back orders will be filled will the old prices.

All this deserves a response of course and I'll try to answer any questions you may have.

First of all, someone mentioned us (Northerner) buying out the little guy. That's sorta funny to read since GetSnus.com was owned by Cigars International which is a company 10 times the size of us, and they in turn are owned by Swedish Match, who are 100 times bigger than us. Their reasons to get out of the online snus business is theirs and theirs alone. Your guess is as good as mine.

Secondly, regarding back orders. They will all be honoured of course, but due to technical issues you won't be able to see them on your accounts. We have all the info saved however and you will get your orders at the price agreed upon. All customers with pending orders will be contacted within the next few days.

Thirdly, regarding the "old" GetSnus pricing and free shipping. As I mentioned above, GetSnus was owned by Swedish Match, and you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand that their purchasing prices may have differed somewhat to ours... I can tell you this though, there is no way to stay in business for us with that pricing and those shipping terms. The 5th can free is something we're looking into, and at this stage it looks as though we'll keep that. Again, some technical aspects to sort out before I can tell you more about that.

Fourth, what GetSnus and their staff has communicated regarding their stock/inventory isn't something we've had any control over.

Fifth. Chad. Haha, are you serious? What would his part in this be? The mastermind behind the whole deal?

Sixth. No, we're most certainly not closing down GetSnus.

I'm sure there will be more to come.

What about snuscentral? Are they owned by the same company too? I will have to go take a look to see how much the getsnus prices went up. Snuscentral has been pretty competitive on pricing to getsnus from what I have noticed. I am still waiting on a backorder of half a roll of OR cranberry from getsnus. Maybe it will ship now.

I do see the possibilities. They do sell the Oden line . Strange though, click on "US Nasal Snuff" and the only offerings are a few Poschl's . Anyway, checking things out, the prices are higher, but only a little more than what getsnus had. I just wonder if they'll continue to overcharge on shipping.

I didn't think about that until you mentioned it TV. I too wonder if they are going to start charging 7.95 for shipping. I got my last getsnus order for 4.95 shipping and they had to send two shipments so far and a third should be in order for the cranberry that is on backorder. The 4.95 is the most I ever paid for shipping from getsnus. Buysnus(snuscentral) was pretty close to that on the roll I bought from them. I too wonder if they will stop giving the free can with five ordered?

I just paid $5.98 at Northerner for a shipment of 7 cans from Sweden. If that helps. I don't know why they are shipping from Sweden. They do have a warehouse here.

TV, I, too, lost my cart at Getsnus. All that lovely General Mint mini and Thunder Frost mini on sale.... Was ready to pull the trigger this morning. I thought I'gone mad...the Getsnus site looked like Northerner"s site. Thanks Stubby for the info!

I went and took a look at the getsnus site and it's kinda creepy how it looks like the northerner site now. I liked the old layout better.

I think I was mistaken.... once in a blue moon it happens. They could very well be different. I've never ordered from them so I'm not up to speed. Will be interesting to see what happens to then after July 1.

i don't think there shipping from Sweden because the estimated delivery time is 2-3 days. I don't think they could pull that off from Sweden for only $6.00!

Northerner used to charge 7.95 for shipping from sweden and the orders I made with getsnus were 2.95 for five cans and 4.95 if it was a larger order. Six isn't too much of a jump but I wonder if it's more for a larger order.

No, they couldn't do that. My estimated delivery from Sweden is 7-10 days and the shipping was $5.98. Curiouser and curiouser.

The Roda gets a little "bitter" after a few minutes, but I really enjoy the flavor when I pair it with a good pale ale. I usually keep a can or two on hand, but not a daily go to.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Pomegranate. I've been curious about that one for a while, but haven't tried it yet.

I ran sample orders of 15 cans thru getsnus and snuscentral and both have increased their shipping charge considerably and there was no mention of the free can at getsnus. A 15 can order that used to cost me about 5.00 in shipping is now about 9.50.
