No matter what I try, I cannot get a drag/hit/whatever you want to call it from a cart (and cartos) like the one I can get by dropping juice directly into the atomizer. But I have no time to drip and need to use carts (especially during my work day). Right now this is one of the two issues (the other being juice I really like and hopefully some is on the way) keeping me from moving completely from analogs, so I want to correct it somehow! I need some ideas from those with a lot of vaping experience (or anyone with suggestions).

Basics:
  • I have an eGo, regulate cart/atty
  • Battery is charged
  • Have tried various mods: fluvial, straw w/ fuval, pyramid teabag (various methods)
  • Tried placing filter material at cart edge and slighty recessed

Am I doomed to wimpy vaping?

Hi Beez,

The eGo with a fresh battery, atty, and filled cart should be a pretty good vape. If dripping into the atty is not producing a good hit, then your battery might be chronically weak. It does happen. There are ways of checking this, but not without a voltmeter. If it is the case, and this happens with >1 new attys, or relatively new, I would contact the vendor if the vaping is weak.

This could be the juice itself, if it is too high in PG, which can reduce vapor. If it is prefilled cart, these are generally sub-par. If you are adding your own juice, and the same thing is happening, it could be a weak battery.

Another option, however, if the battery is not weak, is to use 2.5 ohm cartomizers. They are easy to fill, last a long time, and give a great vape on the eGo.

The eGo battery, however, is not particularly strong, even when fresh. Its about the same working voltage as a regular 510 batt. There are other "fat-bat" types that give a little more voltage, such as the Hello016. And of course there is higher voltage PVs in the 5-7 volt range. The eGo is about 3.1V working. The Hello016 is about 3.7V working.

As for cart mods, I tried about every kind thought of here. My favorite was the aquarium filter filled cart. Wicks well, and also holds juice well. Fluval holds the juice a little too well, and does not wick all the juice to the atty bridge.

If you are getting good vaping with dripping, but do not want to drip, I would look into 510 cartomizers in the 2.0-2.5 ohm range. I either drip or use cartos now. Haven't used a cart in ages, as they leak, have to be refilled too often, and its too much hassle to constantly fiddle with mods for them.
