It may help very much to get a counter for your signature, like some of the folks on this thread have.

When you set yours up, cut and paste the url into a wordpad doc also. Then you can copy and paste the url into your browser if you're not on the forum - hit it five or six times a day if you have to, to encourage yourself.

There were times it made a real difference to see in black and white exactly how many cigarettes not smoked and how many days or even hours had passed.

It took me a few months to completely switch from analogs to PV's. I knew I was making headway when I started smoking fewer and fewer analogs because I started to find e-liquids that I liked the taste of and preferred over tobacco.

It got to the point that I would light an analog and could not even finish half of it because the taste had started putting me off.

I still sometimes feel that I would like to light an analog up but have resisted the urge.

I still get that too, but when I think of the long lasting aftertaste and the smell that it'd leave on me, I just take another vape and forget about it.

Thanks to all for your posts - I was beginning to think I was the only one who couldn't put my analogs away completely. I've had my M401 for about a month and a half now & I love it - TH flavor & vapor, but still haven't been able to completely put the analogs down for good. Some days I'll have 5 or 6. most days 2 or 3 and on a reallay good day none. I was starting to lose hope that I'd ever completely get rid of tobacco cigarettes. They definitely taste & smell nasty to me now, but I still find that sometimes there's a certain "something" that I still need from them. I went into vaping after some coaxing from my husband (also a smoker) hoping that we could reduce our costs & eventually get off the real things. The longer I have my e-cig, the better I like it & the more i dislike the tobacco sticks - just wish I could dump 'em altogether. Anyway, sorry for the long post & thanks again for letting a noob know she's not alone in getting off the tobacco altogether.

I planned on running out of tobacco at the same time I took up the personal vaporizer. It took me about two weeks to finally abandoning my lighter. I have been caring for my Dad who has emphysema from some 60+ years of smoking. I never realized how sick my mind was as to not believe the symptoms were there and now they are gone. Check the American Lung Association web site about the COPD or emphysema symptoms. But when I ran out of tobacco, I stopped using it. Haven't touched it since.

There's lots of hope for you ! It'll happen eventually, don't stress about it too much. Seems to be a very natural progression for most people. If you find yourself getting too discouraged, please let the ppl on this forum help you, they're wonderful at that.

I bought my first e-cig in November 09. I kept on keeping on with the analogs and hoped for a smooth transition from one to the other. IT DID NOT HAPPEN FOR ME. I smoked the e-cig for about 3 months, and granted it SUPPLEMENTED some of my analog smoking, but it never killed it. oddly, or perhaps frighteningly, I could smoke my ecig but I still wanted an analog cigarette. I'm convinced there is something ELSE in the analogs that I was craving.

In February I quit analogs cold turkey. At about the 10 day mark, I was jonesing so bad for a smoke that I was ready to go out and buy a pack. I compromised with myself, (I really did not want my 10 days off analogs to be in vain) and I picked up the ecig instead. This go-around, I found real satisfaction with the ecig. I'm LOVING it now. I can't tell you how nice it is. I can smoke anywhere I want now (one of my biggest reasons for quitting was that I was so tired of nic-fititng because you can't smoke anywhere anymore), I smell good now, my breathing is so improved, and I have my "smoking" back. It's the best of all worlds. I'm thrilled with it now!

But I had to cold turkey quit analogs in order to do that. And honestly, I still feel psychological cravings for analogs when I smell them sometimes. But I don't really want to have one, because I enjoy vaping so much and I don't want to go back to real smoking.

So to anyone who reads this... don't be discouraged if you cannot quit analogs. I felt I couldn't either. But I couldn't appreciate the ecig till I gave up analogs cold turkey.

but I still find that sometimes there's a certain "something" that I still need from them.
My husband and I bought kits in July - they were a rebranded Smoking Everywhere-type. We wanted a healthier alternative to tobacco. They were less than stellar. In August, I joined here and found out about Joye510. Got two kits (mine at 12mg and his at 24mg) and I quit that day. My husband didn't have the same experience. He was "missing something." We tried upping his nicotine, adding menthol crystals - nothing worked. Finally I came across a thread here discussing that "missing factor" (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/nicotine/44958-so-we-getting-we-not-nicotine.html) and had an "a-ha" moment.

I had been sucked in by the FDA smokescreen that snus was just as bad as smoking, plus had the added risk of mouth cancer and had asked my husband to not use them. After finding that thread and doing the research, I found out that snus had only 2% the risks of smoking and no shown increase of mouth cancer risk. The FDA has played the same game with snus as they did with ecigs! Snus contains what we suspect is the missing element in e-cigs - tobacco alkaloids. I told my husband to try it again with the ecigs. (He was shocked, lol!) As of December, not only has he quit smoking, the higher nicotine and menthol is not even necessary anymore. He's using 12mg HV Super menthol and a couple snus a day.

I highly recommend anyone having problems leaving the analogs behind to look into snus. Stop inhaling all of those toxins and still get the relief you need! Check out more about smokefree alternatives info at the CASAA.org site.

Hello, my very first post! Anyway i started on the ecig almost 35 nhours ago. i ordered a 510 from zigcigs the prefered kit. expensive but his customer service was good. a sample pack from johnson creek (also way expensive for what i recieved). i was a pack and a half a day smoker for 20 yrs. is it a good thing that i say as soon as i picked up the 510 i havent even touched an analog in 34 hours????? wow what a difference. i love this 510 (only ecig i know so far) i have tried the many flavors in the variety pack, but they all taste the same too me so far :( only flavor that i can taste a difference (slight) is the artic menthol.i ordered the atomic cinnicide today from tasty vapor (maybe i will taste that). but all in all so far so good. also i question i have is how many drips should i put in a cart? and how long do these carts normally last everyone?? also anyone know of a good place to buy atomizers and 510 batteries??? im sure all my questions are on this site, but i drive truck so my time is limited on my laptop. thank you all and good luck to everyone.

Bbruiser, check out this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ng-you-ever-wanted-know-about-your-510-a.html

It'll tell you everything you need to know!

About the taste - give your taste buds some time to get used to being able to taste things again - you've only been off smoking less than 2 days. I can recommend nhaler.com for great tasting liquid & he has good prices on 510 parts. A lot of people say Tasty Vapor is great, too.

Congrats and welcome! Every victory over analogs, no matter how small, is worth mentioning and celebrating! As a smoker for a similar amount of time, and having only been using ecigs for a couple weeks, I can tell you that I am tasting it more and more as my taste buds slowly recover from the onslaught of a pack-a-day habit! Also, trying other juice sources may help; just be cautious and do your research as many vendors sell the same juice; there are many reviews here you can read through to see what you might be interested in.

As to refilling 510s, I don't yet have one so i can't answer that question, sorry. :)

Welcome again!

First off...welcome and congratulations!

The 510 seems to be the preferred weapon of chioce to kick the analogs...that is what most of us use. I cannot say anything about Johnson creek as I am fairly new at this as well and have not tried them.

As for the cart, you should be able to tell when you are good...it will look a little slushy on the filler...just avoid the puddle and you should avoid flooding your addie.

Everyone is going to have their preferences when it comes to stocking up on batts and addies. I have already ordered a few spares from kingpincigs.com and they came in today...not bad, about 4 days shipping so I would recommend getting some on order soon to avoid the worst happening and having to resort back to your analogs.

If you drive a truck, you may also want to look into a passthrough and USB adapter for your vehicle...eliminate the battery all together while your driving, one less thing to worry about.

Happy Vaping!

I find that's one of my favorite things about ecf - all the encouragement people are providing here to one another!
