Prohibitionist Stan Glantz claims OMB delayed release of FDA report on menthol cigarettes for more than a year, indicating that OMB could delay release of the FDA deeming as well and perhaps for even longer (a potential silver lining).
White House held up release of FDA scientific report on menthol for a year | Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education

But of course, Stan again urges FDA to ban menthol cigarettes, refuses to acknowledge any negative ramifications of a menthol cigarette ban, and once again Stan refuses to allow comments on his blog that correct his misinformation.

I posted the following comment on Glantz' blog, but he won't allow it to be posted.

Prohibitionists are NOT public health advocates

The first three words of this article were inaccurate.

In fact, prohibitionists (not public health advocates) want to ban menthol cigarettes.

Banning menthol cigarettes would:

- create a multi billion dollar black market (run by organized crime) for untaxed and unregulated menthol cigarettes,

- eliminate billions of dollars in funding for SCHIP (state children's health insurance programs), tobacco control and other public
health programs,

- eliminate billions of dollars in federal and state cigarette tax revenue and MSA funds, and

- do little of anything to reduce cigarette consumption or smoking rates (and may increase consumption due to low priced untaxed and unregulated menthol cigarettes).

Prohibition of tobacco products won't benefit public health any more than alcohol or ......... prohibition have benefited public health.

Prohibitionists are not public health advocates.
