Count - Take him to Puerto Nuevo!
Not a bad thought.... but the drive will be a little long with three adults and two kids crammed into my Prius or my wife's Honda Civic. :( I guess we'll just have to settle for trips to the beach...

The fools, maybe... but the savvy telemarketers always manage to put in a number or caller name that is not real, which often fools people...

Called "the monolith" on Walker Mountain... somewhere in... um, where was I when I took that picture?

Interesting that a monolith should have two peaks !

jpf - You've done so much, maybe you should take a day to rest.

Count - Take him to Puerto Nuevo!

:tumble:

Robin with taking care of Wifey and all the housework it's pretty much impossible for me to take a day off, if I do things pile up and I can't get caught up. Moving really put me behind on things and I'm still not unpacked and caught up.

That was exactly my thought, even though I am only a rank amateur in geology, which is why I put the name in quotes because I do not, personally, believe it is an accurate representation of the reality. I never climbed up there to give it a closer look, but it sure doesn't look very "mono" to me.

So, onto the start of my forum day: GOOD MORNING TREEFAM!!! It has been raining here for 16 hours straight (no mowing today!) and the temp is only up to 53F (that 50 degrees below what it was only a few days ago) and I feel like someone transported me back to the Pacific Northwest during my sleep. This is the middle of August! Are we starting a new ice age? Oh well...

How about just a plain tree this morning? This one is somewhere near Hillsboro (west of Porkland, Orygun, which is hiding behind that distant hill) and it just stood there, proudly begging to get in the album.

Hi y'all
Yep..got in early this morn...had to take a southern detour and come in under and around the fires in Ory-gun..They were closin the highway behind me as we headed West on 84 on the way up....never been that close to a raging wildfire before...looks like it jumped the eastbound lane at one point and burned out the median strip...scarey stuff those wildfires...
Hope all are safe and sound where ever you may be...

Might go to the pool later
Wish I had a pool to get all the garden mud off me. No, wait... I wish I had a hot tub... yeah, that's the ticket!

060 Multnomah Falls OR.JPG

Multnomah Fall, Columbia River Gorge (Believe it or not, I tried to climb up that face once... made it only about 50 feet up the side of the upper falls before I realized I'd need ropes to go any further. Got down just before the park cops showed up because someone reported a crazy person. So I walked the trail up, then about 10 miles up the creek to another mountain. What a day!)
