Yes we are coming back, but is has been a long, slow process for many!

Hopefully - "You" and the rest of your family were okay . . .

They only think of New Orleans

YEP - I heard that mainly the center of town and the tourist areas are doing better . . . Other outlying areas not so well . . . Matter of fact, there were so many people displaced and are still living in other states without any prospects of getting back to their Homes too . . .

I'm sorry for those that were affected by Katrina, but at the time I really didn't pay much attention to it, since that was the week that my father passed away in the hospital.

Condolences . . . AND - To Everyone else who are still so affected by the "Love Lost" in their lives . . . I know all to well that it is NOT Easy . . . :(

So that storm heading for FL has weakened - that's good news.

YEP - Only going to be a major rain storm for approximately the next 3 days . . .

With expected 4 - 5 Inches and high winds . . .

Mac, no you haven't missed anything on that "other" thread...just a lot of nonsense really.
Hey! All of my posts are deep and meaningful!

Hang in there, Blue. Think of it as nature's way of trying to get back into balance.

They closed the beach here today because a kayaker encountered a hammerhead shark. The lifeguards flipped out and closed the ocean to swimmers, et al. I wonder what they would do if someone went in... arrest them? For what? Deep thoughts as I sign off for the evening.

Good night, Treefam!

See, I did come back before the day was entirely over. Way too many chores and, because I couldn't find a suitable cage for Chicklet yesterday ($40 for a small birdcage? No way!), I had to make this. The wood wasn't hard, but cutting, bending and attaching that hardware cloth (the wire mesh) was not fun. The top opens like a hinged lid and the auto water dispenser (in the back of cage) is a plastic root beer bottle with a small hole drilled in the bottom and glued to the bottom of an old sour cream container.

Oh, and you can see Lannie's vape gear to the right and mine to the left (lonesome little istick).

Let us not forget the tree...
132 my alarm clock - blows whistle next to my cabin.jpg

I lived in a one-room log cabin while staying/working at Grand Canyon and every day this train blew its whistle right behind my cabin at exactly noon. I called it my alarm clock because I worked a permanent swing shift (by my choice), then stayed up working with my photos or drawing cartoons, writing articles, or painting until about 3-4 AM, so noon was the right time to wake up.

260 back at GC the train arrives.jpg

Of course it has to go back every day too. If all the lodges at Grand Canyon Village are booked, you can stay in a motel in Williams and ride this antique steam locomotive to the canyon and back daily. Some people preferred this because, due to the slope of the ground (southward, away from the canyon rim), we had no water that wasn't piped in, so there are no swimming pools at Grand Canyon Village, but there are at Williams and Flagstaff. Your choice...

Didn't do my bicycle ride yesterday cause I wasn't feeling too good - not sick just didn't feel up to it. Still didn't feel great today but forced myself to go out and do it. Did 9km and definitely overdid it - been off the bike for a couple hours and haven't recovered.

Aw Count,I can't like that post, but I'm sorry. I know it's been a while, but we never really get over missing them do we? It was 6 years earlier this month that I lost my mom and I still miss her every day!

Thank you, Angel. Dwelling on it is sad, but often it will be one of those things where a random memory of them will pop into your head.

Hugs for everyone missing a loved one!!!
My mom passed away in march and I still struggle with being okay sometimes...like her memorial the day after what would have been her birthday and on my birthday earlier this month...its the "first without my mom"...darn it now I'm all teary. Sometimes I forget how much I miss her until I try to talk about her...then I end up crying...I really don't know how to be "all grown up", some days I still just "want my mom"

Well I survived the first wave of wind without incident............but now the thunder storms begin till tomorrow night....so I will have to see if it's safe to log on in the morning.....good night Treefam.....
I am so gad to hear you are okay!! Been very worried. Stay safe sweetie!
