Congrats to @Ken1979

Well, finally got on here after trying to talk my sister through her first experience with vaping. She got an eGo-style kit and couldn't make it work (it came with NO instructions). Sigh... Anyway, finally got her to use it correctly and she's making the big bold attempt to use this and not the stinkies. Hopefully, we'll see her on this forum soon, as she certainly needs the moral support all of you folks provide.

28 and again - closer.jpg

Me and Shadow again, this time starting a trail ride in Sand Canyon. Nice place to go horseback riding as there are very few motorcycles or ATVs there and lots of gorgeous scenery.

good luck for your sister Fuzzy
Thanks. She's gonna need it. She's 2 1/2 years older than me and been smoking even longer (she started younger than I did). She quit several times throughout life, but never managed to stay off. She even tried the hypnosis bit, but the first major stress she ran into, she was right back on them. Most of us know that routine. Because she is 1,400 miles away, the only support I can give is by phone or e-mail. That's why I am trying to get her on this forum. All of you (on this thread and several others) have been so encouraging to me and Lannie and the "family" atmosphere helps a lot. Then we also have all these nice suppliers (like @glassmanoak and a few others) who have been through the trenches also and always provide some sage advice and clues of how to get the most out of their e-liquids (this one is for tootle puffers, that one is for cloud chuckers, etc.). I sent sissy a care package (many bottles of juice) because she had no clue about what flavors to try and, of course, bought a bottle of tobacco juice, which (IMO) she needs to get away from. I know the eGo kit won't give her everything she needs from this, but it is a fair starting point and, within a couple months, maybe we can step her up to an iStick or something that will help bring out the flavors.

Vertical basalt - a fair pointer that this lava formed under water... a long long time ago.

PIF to @Slowone2

About to head out to the first soccer game of the season. Before I go, a few quick bits of advice for those trying to get others off the cigs:

  1. Start with a higher VG mixture. More PG increases the throat hit which, in turn, often makes one cough. Higher VG is a smoother vape--although, depending on the equipment, there may be some wicking issues.
  2. Encourage them to try non-tobacco flavors. This will not so much as encourage them to vape as it will encourage them not to smoke because a cigarette will taste horrible compared to a good, say, fruit flavor.
  3. Suggest that before they light up, they vape for a few minutes. This may not help with their cravings, but it will reinforce point number 2.
  4. Start with a nic level of 12. This is high enough that it will take the edge off of some cravings, but light enough that the throat hit will not be overwhelming. It may not satisfy them enough to replace their cigs, but it will help them get used to the mechanics of vaping. Once they have the basics down, they can always switch to a higher level if they find that the 12s don't cut it.
  5. Remind them that it is not smoking. Vaping is different and does take a little getting used to. And for as many on here who claim that they quit the moment they picked up their vape, there are likely twice as many (if not more) who did not quit immediately. The pressure to quit can sometimes work against you--so the trick is to encourage situations which make vaping seem more desirable than their love of cigarettes.
Whew! If I hadn't been smoke free for... wow, 18 months! ... I'd probably want one right now.

Anyway, off to the game!

Thanks, Count. Even though I knew these items myself, it is nice to see them reinforced in print by someone else. I shall pass those on.

26 wanna go to that side of the river.jpg

Standing here, gazing upward, my mind traces a potential path to scramble up. Do you see it? Or would you even try?

Thanks everyone for the advice, I think deep down I know the biggest factor is she had to want to quit smoking ave start Vaping!! If its not what she wants then there will always be an excuse!!
@Ken1979
Yep..that's about it . I don't recall your wife's vaping history. Has she tried the cig alikes? Sometimes it helps to take a step backwards, to where she was more comfortable before moving forward with more strange unfamiliar things.
I started out with a GreenSmoke cig alike..if you like ,I can PM you the particulares ...
Greensmoke.jpg

I liked the vape and the familiar cig feel. It was an easy cross over, but cartos are not cheap. Also the threads are a funky E9 (KR808D-2). A little Googling will find you some blank cartos. The battery is a tiny 160 mAh on the shorts and a 270 mAh on the longs. With me,20 minutes on one batt and it was done.
It may be she is willing to go with something with a more familiar look and feel; and I think Greensmoke is one of the better ones. Nice vapor production too.
So then I liked the taste with the cartos but wanted a longer batt life. I then progressed to a slim ego type battery with a clearo-type tank.
Inferno.jpg

But, even with a 900 and a 1300 battery, the flavor was not as good as with the cartos. So then I did a lil research and swapped the stock tanks for blank 510 threaded dual coil 1.8 ohm cartos....Got better flavor and longer batt life, but the cartos were getting too hot too quick. Ideally, I would next go to a Innoken Cool Fire 4 with a Nautilus Mini tank. I think , for me...that's a natural progression..very conservative.
cool fire 4.jpg
coolfir4 size.jpg

As you can see...it's a nice size for a your gal's hand (that is NOT a Nautilus mini, tho)...And ..it even comes in purple !
But hey...isn't it all about helping to get her off the stinkies?? I say, whatever works for her....Some of us, can start right off with 150W Beasts...but from what I've read, the ciga likes are a common first progression. But yeah, she has to want to. Having access to the cigalikes, where she can try them when you're not around  might be the ticket. my :2c: ...

3. It's true, you can't make someone quit if they aren't ready...my BF is a perfect example. And what's funny about that is that it was his idea for us to start vaping over 2 years ago. When he first mentioned it, I told him I had no desire to quit smoking and just wasn't really interested. But then I started doing research, and of course ECF was a huge part of that, and I was the one who finally made the first move back in May 2013. He quickly followed suit and ordered his own kit. Those were just the little cigalikes so they didn't really work for either of us and we both went back to smoking. I didn't give up though and by November of 2013 I finally found what worked for me and haven't smoked since. I have tried to help him get into vaping more by giving him all kinds of setups but so far he still won't give up the cigs. It drives me crazy, but until he's ready there is nothing I can do. At least he does try to vape for the most part while I'm here.

Well I'm laying on my back all afternoon and the pain is a lot less. If I could only stay in bed forever lol. I know that is the worst thing to do but for the evening it is good.

Got my piggy laying beside me and our mean little dachshund keeping watch to make sure the kitties don't get close enough to be pet... Sorta funny cause if one of the kitties is on the stairs and he wants to come up he is too afraid and barks until one of us go get him.

It has been a heckuva a week, and next week is slated to be more of the same, if not worse. That means you'll likely not see me on here as much, again.

Rest assured, I am not taking these hiatuses (hiati) from the group so I can break my promise not to buy gear.

I didn't even order the squonker I wanted, but I did put a squonking atty in the cart for Stepdot - it's a tank and BF RDA in one that will run on any 510 mod. She's snitching one of my iStick 40s to operate the device...
