I just realized what time it's getting to be - need to stop messing with this broke computer and rest my mind.

Yesterday was a long day... and strange, too.

My daughter's game was against a team 30 minutes away... To be safe, I suggested we leave an hour early so that we'd at least get out of the house 45 minutes early. Good thing, too: there was not just one, but two traffic incidents along the way. The first was an overturned garbage truck that had apparently caught on fire as well. That had the freeway closed down to one lane and it looked like rescuers were still looking over the edge of the freeway (where there was about a 30-foot drop) for something... Getting past that, we made good time until the bay bridge--which had been shut down because of someone threatening to jump. Luckily, that cleared up quickly and we just made it for the game...

My daughter's team had beaten this team once already, and for three quarters, they had the game well in-hand, leading by 2-1. Somehow, though, they slowed down in the last five minutes and the other team quickly scored twice just before time ran out. A disappointing last game for the girls...

We then headed to my son's team's tournament. After a mad dash to get to the usual field, we realized that the games were actually being played on the field at our kids' school. Sigh. We managed to get there in time. This was a tournament, with each team playing several others in 20-minute games before the leaders were tallied and played against one another in the final. My son's team, which had a perfect season of zero wins, managed not only to tie one of their games, but, by some improbable math having to do with the scores of the games that they lost, managed to make the finals. They lost, but it was rather funny that a team that had not won a single game made it that far. Of course, we had to wait for other teams to play before all of this panned out, so we didn't leave the field until 4 hours after arriving...

Mind you, that we left the house at 9:40 that morning (sorry about not responding to your PM about posting the contest link, GMO--I barely had time to post as it was), and were finally finished at 4:45 without having had a chance to eat. So we headed to an all-you-can-eat salad bar restaurant and stuffed ourselves. Exhausted and full, I started falling asleep on the couch at about 7:30 pm--managed to wake up enough to put the kids to bed and drink some more water before heading to bed early...

A good Sunday to all. Just finished catching up on posts.
Congratz to @westhc on your Win! You are in for a TREAT. If I may suggest..try the Banyan Tree;)
@CountBoredom ... glad you were able to evade the road hazards ...Life is wierd..Enjoy the Ride if you can.
@tiggerrts Happy to hear you venturing out into the World. It is full of surprises.
@liblue1 I would hate that too...the continued sound of chainsaws ..I have a farmer friend in Alaska ..and his mentality is basically to "clear it and farm it". It takes a very long time for even the scraggly corkscrew looking black spruces to grow to any height ...only to be pushed down by bulldozers in a matter of minutes :(

It's been an interesting change-of-pace coupla days ...I have a feeling this is NOT going to be my usual Fall/Winter of hibernation  Change has been happening all around me for some time but I have felt stuck .... this slingshot effect is not pleasant ..but it is necessary. Nothing growswithout change.
If you can spare it, please send some Light my way to help me with these "growing pains". Thank You.

Very true, and cosmic energy is being directed in your direction. Use it to your best advantage.

We have no lakes, ponds, or creeks on our property, but this is what the cow pasture looks like when snow melts rapidly.

Well, time to get off my buns and away from the computer. Wind isn't blowing much today, so I'm going to go take down the summer screens and put up the storm windows. The weather dude says that next week, the HIGH temperature will be right around freezing and this house doesn't have nearly the insulation it needs, so every little bit helps.

Missy had/has this habit of getting out of the dog yard, either through or under all that fencing I put up (the stakes are driven in the places where she dug under). Jeez, they have a whole acre to play in, but there always seems to be a reason why she should squeeze through a tiny 4x12 opening. The 2x4 board, so far, has prevented this, so she doesn't get to go outside without it.
