Well, long day cutting firewood, made even longer by the fact that both chainsaws crapped out. The little Poulon's chain kept stretching and I kept adjusting it until it wouldn't adjust any farther, then I put a new chain on it (always carry a spare), and it was making a terrible rattling noise, so I took it apart again and discovered the primary drive gear had a groove worn in it, so I put that one down and grabbed the big Husky. A couple cuts and the chain showed slack, so I turned it off and tried to adjust it, but it was already at max tension. Luckily, I had also brought along a spare for it, so I installed the new chain and cranked it back up to finish the day. Because of all the maintenance, I ran out of time before I got what I would consider an acceptable load, but some is better than none, so I drove home in time for evening critter chores, dinner, and Nanny McPhee. Puff puff Pant.
Just for laughs: Cricket (this cow) had someone else's baby trying to nurse on her and we couldn't put a nose ring on the calf because she needed to nurse her own mommy, so we got a bra for Cricket.
Don't worry about it. We were all new here at one time.

I was wondering what Jasper would do with those annoying roosters , like the kind that were attacking the baby chicks born under the [hedge?] was it?

Well - Given the earlier discussion about exchanging personal information with others, I would like to say that I have mixed feelings about this "Myself", especially since I do value "My" privacy as much as the next person . . . AND - IMO - NO ONE should feel bad for not sharing that information if they chose not to . . .
However, I will also say that a number of people have made some very valid points too about being able to contact someone simply because they care and are worried . . . Matter of fact, in another ECF "Family" thread I belong too, at least 3 people have died unexpectedly in the past couple of years - one who was a member on ECF since 2009, but thankfully they had family who knew they were members here and were able to contact someone that let "Us" know . . . AND - The other 2 had a closer relationship with other members of the thread who informed "Us" when it happened . . . So - I fully understand the need that some may have in having a way to contact someone who might be "Missing".
SO - On that note, other the "GMO" (aka: "glassmanoak" the Owner of The vape Tree and host of this thread) there are also a number of "Tree-Peeps" that already have "My" Personal Information . . . Also - Although I do not hang out there that often "Uncle" is a member of other forums (that I cannot mention here) and can easily be found on FB if Ya' know what to look for there too . . . Last but not least, there are other ECF People who have "My" Personal Information too . . . SO - Even if I am ever BANNED/Moved On - one way or another I can eventually be found . . . Just Sayin' . . .

Well, TreeFam, it is that time of night again, so I'm signing off. Y'all take care of yourselves and I'll catch ya on the 'morrow.
The garden Lilacs are what Lannie refers to as "the hedge" and I guess I have fallen prey to that terminology too. They are actually closer to being trees than a hedge. Sigh. Anyway, Jasper is wise enough to know that chicken business is chicken business and he stays out of it. Usually, the mother hen fights off any other chickens that approach her chicks, as well as the Guineas. A single rooster (one that used to be on our "butthead list" - destined for the stew pot) has become their personal defender. Mommy usually herds them around, until they see me coming out in morning and evening, then they leave momma in the dust and flock to me like attacking Chubb Chubbs. No matter what I might be carrying, they view it as a food container because Daddy is the one that feeds them. Back to Jasper: He keeps any other type of animal away from the chickens... hawks, coons, possums, foxes, coyotes... get near his chickens and they can either leave quick or die.
Well, TreeFam, it is that time of night again, so I'm signing off. Y'all take care of yourselves and I'll catch ya on the 'morrow.

3. I am exhausted...work wasn't so bad, the boss didn't come in and the clients mostly behaved themselves, but had to babysit all 3 grandkids tonight...combine that with very little sleep last night and a toothache that won't go away, and well I'm not in the best of moods...going to try to go to bed a bit earlier tonight..hope I can actually accomplish that!
3. All the emergency contact stuff going on - mixed feelings on it for me - nuff said.
Been sort of a rough day back to work after 4 days off - maybe more on it later.

jpf - I know how relaxing a bit of shooting can be - used to do a lot of it but being here it's one of the few things I can't do. Did manage to do some a couple years ago when I visited my son while he was stationed in Yuma - he had a few pieces and we went to a range out in the desert near there.
(might be a good thing we can't have them here the way things have been lately)

Almost a month ago I did the paperwork for my upcoming and unwanted reassignment. HR had to send it to the San Diego office (they did that the following day) and told me that I would be notified when the info was in the system. A week later I get an email where the person who first got it in San Diego passed it off to someone else there. 3 weeks later I haven't heard anything else. Today I send an email to both HRs. Get a response from the local HR with an attached email from San Diego HR that was sent 10 days ago but not to me. Email include a document that needed to be signed and returned - did that and also let them know they screwed up.
When were they going to tell me about this email that they had - never. These HR people continue to try blaming others for their f--- ups - they never admit fault or take responsibility and none are ever punished for it (but they have no problem letting the detrimental effects of their incompetence affect the employee).

Besides dealing with HR screw ups today I had my regular stuff to catch up with after taking a couple days of plus taking care of stuff the other guy couldn't handle during that time.

That's how it's always been - at least this guy isn't as bad as one that was there about 7 years ago.
I'm at the point now where I get to the stuff when I get to it - things get done by my priorities and not those of others.
