Thanks guys...yeah it was a hair-raising, or graying, experience for sure...I've been in bad weather before, but never seen anything like that...what scared me so bad was when I ended up in the other lane and almost into the ditch without even realizing it...made me really wish someone else would lead the way.

So had a super crazy busy day at work and then had to come home and babysit all three grandkids again...now I love my grandkids, but I'm really starting to resent their parents for always expecting me to be the one to watch them all, thereby making it a chore and not where I can actually enjoy them...there are 3 other sets of grandparents they could ask, but they think it's just fine to put out the one who is only home a few nights a week and only has limited time to get anything done at home. And to top it off, the DIL dropped them off without having fed them, didn't bring them any food, which she usually does, all knowing that I usually shop on Mondays and so had hardly any food in the house...plus she left the baby's pacifier, and much to my dismay when I needed them, the baby wipes at home...My son got an earful when he finally came to pick them up! ...I think the adult "kids" will be getting nothing but coal for Christmas!

But this little Princess does make it worthwhile. ...You can tell she's trouble just by the look in her eyes!

..and all the idiots decided to line up behind me and let me lead the way...made me really wish someone else would lead the way. Whose stupid idea was that...don't you know you don't let a blonde lead anything! ..

...I'm glad you made it home ok, @angelphyre .... Same thing happened to me in a blinding snowstorm not long back ... they must have sensed your take charge/ commanding aura . I still can't figure out how they knew we were blonde though ....

That was, indeed, an awful experience (@angelphyre ) and I am glad you are OK. I remember following a semi across the sandy area near Palm Springs because I could not see the highway at all for the blowing sand (and praying HE had some clue if we were still on the road -- I wonder if he was blonde?).

Thanks for all the good wishes for the son folks.
We just got back from the airport a bit ago.
Was hard on momma like I knew it would be - but not as bad as I thought it would be. Guess having already been through it with his brother made it just a touch easier.
He should be sitting at the airport in Tokyo right now waiting to get on the long flight to Houston - then one short hop after that and the fun begins.

So it turns out when your little one likes to keep you up until 1:30 am and you gotta get up early for work, it makes for a long day. Been at work 3 and a half hours and it feels like I have been here all day. Have a great day everyone.

Angel, I'm glad you survived your drive. Like Fuzzy, I, too, have encountered the blindness that comes from driving through desert sandstorms outside of Palm Springs. After one particularly bad trip, I had to replace my windshield because the sand had pock-marked the glass to such an extent that I was blinded by sparkles created by the headlights of oncoming traffic.
