You folks know (those who bothered to read it anyway) that it was -13 *F yesterday when we went out to do chores. Well, today was 0 *F, so it was 13 degrees warmer, right? Nope. Yesterday was nearly windless (very very light breeze) so wind chill was maybe -14 *F, but this morning, the wind was doing about 25 mph, which makes the wind chill factor -24 *F. So, even though it was 13 degrees warmer according to the thermometer, it was actually about 10 degrees colder in what your skin feels. And, by the way, at -24 *F, exposed flesh will freeze in 30 minutes. It takes a minimum of an hour to do morning chores, but thankfully, over half of that is inside the barn, so the wind isn't stealing body heat. Isn't playing with weather fun?

I don't have a squonker yet, but eventually I'm sure I will. I really like the idea and simplicity of them, but I know myself well enough that if I get one, I'll want another. lol...

I prefer the vape I get from my drippers, but I only use those at home. The idea of gettin' that same vape, while on the go, is extremely appealing! (I've tried over 20 RTAs. To date, the only tank I enjoy is the Goblin Mini, which is why I have two. )

My son filled our lunch with conversation about his great plans for having a house, when he's grown up, in which he will dedicate an entire room to building a professional Lego city. I guess he's got dreams...!

When I was in high school (yes, back when dinosaurs roamed the Earth), a geeky guy I knew (not hard for me, given I was fairly geeky too) said he was going to dedicate an entire room of his future home to H.O.-scale model railroads, city, mountains, hand-built trestles, etc. I said (to myself - I never want to audibly discourage people's dreams) that it would never happen. I ran into him many years later and he indeed had done exactly what he had said he would do. He showed me pictures (he carried them in his briefcase) and the detail was awesome; they could have been photos of real-life places.

When I was a kid, I thought building and having something like that would be fun, too. But I would think I'd get bored after it was set up. The fun is in the building.

Back in college, I helped dig up, and haul back for display, a Gomphothere.

I would think I'd get bored after it was set up. The fun is in the building.

I suspect that is why they devote an entire room to the project. They start in one corner... build a small railroad with village. When they get that the way they want, add another 4x8 plywood table and start on a mountain, canyons, trestles, hundreds of tiny pine trees, brush, grass, then connect the little railroad to it. If you work it right, you could make the "building" process last the rest of your life. I know I spent a couple months making a two-story haunted house (HO scale) with hand prints in the dusty glass windows, pigeons on the roof, and everything. If I cold spend that much time on one building, imagine making a whole countryside with as much perfection as possible. I don't have the room (or the time) to do that these days, but if we ever get rid of all this livestock... Well, there's barns that could be converted....

..busy day today,folks.
@Uncle ...omg ..it IS the Army. They too would go thru your lockers and your stuff without notice/without permission. Locks and deadbolts just got cut off. At least in Basic Training they left your locker alone unless you were careless enough to leave it unlocked.
Makes me take thought about getting older .... if I ended up in a VA home or nursing home, they prob wouldn't let me vape either. ..not with all the "rules" now-a-days.
Wish there really was an Island of Angel ...where we could all just live our lives out in peace. But physical and mental infirmity is a reality with age that we don't get to choose.

@Fuzzy Thunderbear ...sounds like my brother ...He once built this monster whole-room HO scale thing.

I thought "You" might, especially given some of your earlier post . . .

Just so "You" and anyone else who might move into any building that is Government Housing/Overseen by the Federal Government know . . . They are strongly pushing the No Smoking rule on those properties now and as a result - may or may not include the use of "eCig" even in your housing and on their property as I am (@KatzWh1skers . . . That would include VA home or nursing home . . . Just Sayin' . . . ) . . . Matter of fact, the Florida Legislature is now considering a bill to ban "Electronic Cigarettes" and/or vapor products in smoke-free areas and in exempt places of business where smoking is still allowed - like bars and some outside eating areas and maybe even "Vape Shops/Lounges" too:

Well it has been another extremely long day and I am still not done - a lot of touch ups still need to be done, "Stuff" hung on the walls, and cleaning . . . Besides the fact that I have got to get ready to get some other things done and I am still waiting to be put on the schedule from "My" doctors office to see him this week or next . . . Just hope it is soon and not going to take to long . . . Okay - I think that is enough for tonight . . .

...touch ups...get all the paintings hung back on the walls ...and act like ya haven't been painting like a mad man (or your "help" anyway..) all week ...scheesh ...I'm beat just thinkin about it ...glad it's "almost over" ... at least for a while. I don't wanna get old....
