Well think about that when you need to call 911 or the fire department....or your DR to make an appointment..!!!!..(Especially when you are out)...hardy anyone has a landline around here...but they are all seniors or disabled...

Alright....I agree about....... abusers of the system....there will always be those.....but it's difficult to tell who is & who isn't taking advantage of some of the free services......

Thanks for the warm welcome Liblue1! All I know how to post are the emoticons here on ECF and there aren't any tree emoticons that I've seen. I'll have to skip the tree posting until I get that figured out. I've loved seeing all the gorgeous tree pics here, though. I've been posting on ECF for a few months, but I haven't done much posting in this area. I love the fact that there are vendor contests and giveaways throughout the year and not just during holidays!

A few had questions about a update on Wifey, she's not doing much better but a little. The last time we were at the Dr's office he said the constant high ammonia levels has probably caused permanent brain damage. Used to be when her level got real high we could run a couple of liters of flush into her and get the levels down and she would be much better, now we do it and she is only marginally better for a shorter length of time. So that's where we're at. We'll deal with what we have the best we can.

The Banyan Tree is awesome...

It's pretty simple. The easiest way is to do a Google search, find an image you want, right click and copy the URL. Then click on the picture button beside the smiley face on top of the box where you write your comment, paste the URL in there, and it should show up.

How old do you have to be to be "elderly"? I'll be 67 in a month. I have been "disabled" for the last 16 years. NO ONE in the government has ever "offered" me a cell phone! Other than the VA healthcare system, no one in government has ever "given" me anything that I didn't fight to acquire. So I guess I do not understand what is being argued here.

Other than the VA healthcare system, no one in government has ever "given" me anything that I didn't fight to acquire. So I guess I do not understand what is being argued here.

I was referring to the little tents that pop up in parking lots offering free cell phones. Around here, at least.

Ah, so you have to "ask" for the freebies (being paid for with your taxes). I choose not to beg for food stamps and I don't get SSI (I am on "regular" lifetime disability - no, wait, I am not anymore... when I turned 66 last year, the federal government told me that I am no longer 100% disabled, but was now just a regular "retired" person.)

I was referring to the little tents that pop up in parking lots offering free cell phones. Around here, at least.

I really wasn't picking on you GG, but I live so far out of town that the only time you ever see a tent pop up within sight of my house, you know the tourists are here for the opening day of antelope season.
Parking lots? Yeah, I saw one of them once... I think it was Wally World... nearest one is about 105 miles from me.

Pretty excited for the game tonight, Spurs vs. Warriors, the two best teams in the league. It's their first meeting this season and it's been hyped up for weeks. Been awhile since I remember a regular season NBA game hyped so much.
