seems Bill Gates thinks he has a right to have copies of everything you do.

Bill Gates hasn't been involved with Microsoft for a while. Besides, they're just trying to keep up with Apple and Google.

I still love my Win 7 and have no desire to change until I'm forced kicking and screaming!

You and me both. I figure I'll pull the trigger on the free upgrade this summer.

Speaking of computer woes, I was woken up early this morning by an alarm from my Network Storage unit--the fan seems to have died an ugly death. Problem is, for this early model, they used non-standard fans with some bizarre specs. I'll try to find a replacement, but even posts from 8 years ago were saying they were hard to find. Might have to bite the bullet and get a whole new system. Sigh...

Replacement laptop......on sale......the same make..newer model...now I have to learn windows 10....

I was in the same boat a couple weeks back. I hate Windows 10, but know there are ways to tweak it to look and act more like 7, just haven't figured that out yet. There's so much crap downloaded on this new laptop, it's actually running as slow as the one it's replacing.

Get yourself some software that keeps out not just viruses but programs that steal your data. Windows 10 comes from Microsoft loaded with that crap - seems Bill Gates thinks he has a right to have copies of everything you do.

I stayed up watching a movie last night. I watched Legend with Tom Hardy, it was pretty good. It's a good movie if you like British gangster flicks.

Thanks for the offer, Slow--I didn't even consider dipping into my old stash of electronics! Fortunately, I managed to repair the fan by oiling the bearing and re-seating the plug. I guess all it wanted was someone to give it a little attention... The whole situation did remind me that the little unit is rather long in the tooth and will probably have to be upgraded at some point soon.

Now that all of that is taken care of (and Blue is awake! ), I can go grab some lunch in peace and then, hopefully, actually get some work done this afternoon...

Got win10 on that PC I got the wife a few months ago - I prefer 7 - probably cause I'm used to it but 10 seem to hide a lot that you can see and do with 7.

My wife has Windoze 7 and I hate it - can't imagine how much worse 10 is (other than what I have read). I am still using XP and will not change until it dies. My "preference" is way back at 98SE. I really don't give a rip about corporate support - they screw up more things than they fix. I just want a "reliable friend" that I can understand the workings of without having to go get ANOTHER college education for.
