@rangerrobin not sure how one would celebrate it, but the possibility is still there for the little one to come today. Wife is still hanging in there, but more symptoms yesterday and last night. I am really beginning to wonder if this running joke might become a reality. (Been joking about it at work and with family as well)

Last week, we were joking about @DaleH1985's new one being born today. Now, I'm really curious, how one celebrates their birthday, if born on January 29th?
I saw your post just after finishing reading this: The Leap-Day Baby's Paradox

I was trying to get my wife to hang on just a little bit longer with our daughter so that we would have an Ides of March baby... didn't happen, though. :?:

2/29 #1 LEAP DAY (Ribet, ribet, leap!)

Weird weather... couple days ago, it was 71 *F and sunny and I was sure that Spring was here. This morning's forecast was for a low of 29, high 31, and cloudy. OK, I could live with that. It is still Feebelary after all. BUT... Lannie said the temp just kept dropping and when I got up it was 20 *F (those dang weather dudes never can get it right for here). By the time we went out for morning chores, it was 15 *F and I saw the sky was totally overcast in thick stratus and the air felt moist. Wind was coming from the east and I told Lannie it would start snowing any minute. She said the forecast implied we "might" get a trace sometime later today. By the time we got in the cow barn, the white stuff started coming down and it hasn't stopped. There's at least 2" of fresh white out there already. Weather dudes blew it again. Groundhog, you're fired!

I keep telling this darn snow to go backwards to the Cascades (and your foothills) but the Weather Goddess keeps telling me that weather moves EAST, not west. Drat!
I know...I know....but I can still dream......It's an early spring here....the storm yesterday was pretty big....it even hailed a couple of times.....with one huge bolt of lightning and a deep boom of thunder....the winds picked up for awhile then stopped....then picked up again......
A beautiful storm.....

Same to you Katz....Have a good day......and not that I know of.....it's bad enough they do crab races around here(not just the 4th of July).......they put them on a slide and it's mean to them.....
CrabRace1.jpg

I had to add a photo.......these poor creatures.....it's in April...and I suppose it's natural to play with your food if you are a cat......but really....this is just sick & twisted..........I would like to know where the humane society is about this....I saw it on the news years ago....

I have a couple of hermit crabs & would never even think about entering them in a race...why would anyone want to do this?

Quite an interesting read @CountBoredom I can see the issues of a leap day birthday, but at the same time the uniqueness of it. I'm a little torn now if I would want her to come today or not.

I had a Finnish ex-gf and her older sister had twins on leap day! The whole family loved the whole leap day birthday thing. They would celebrate their bdays on Feb 28th except for the leap year and would have a big party. She said the kids really loved the uniqueness of the Leap Day Birthday.

(unable to use quote feature ... :-x)
@liblue1 yes that is mean ....I think I've mentioned, the guys used to use white out to paint racing stripes on the geckos in Oki ...you don't do that, do you @mac63 :p
:tumble:

Never seen or heard of anyone painting the geckos.
Back in the day of barracks living we always made sure some were staying in there with us - they kept the roach population down.

@mac63 ...if I recall right, having some geekos around is good luck. :)
@liblue1 oh...I can think of lotsa reasons why they would do what they do...and none of them has anythin to do wit the frog's ...crabs...geekos ...(insert animal) 's best interest ...:(
