I started with the cigalikes/cartos and then moved on to the ego style and twist/spinner batteries with a small tank and have kept moving on. I think I would have been intimidated in the beginning by any of the box mods and big tanks when I knew nothing and had no mentors around. I wanted simple and cigarette like then.

Congratz @DaleH1985 !
Congratz @Chris H. on nailin the job!
Gratitude for this thread ..and those who make it possible :thumb:
I ,too, was really impressed by the Innokin T22's ... Love top-fill....I would have to be pretty in love with a tank to put up with bottom fill anymore.
I am still singing the praises of my JUSTFOG tank.... I like that I can use my 1300 mAh ego style batts with it ...they last surprisingly long ..and switching out to a fresh batt is as easy as unscrew, screw on.... no loose batts to contend with ....therefore no bulky charger....great when you are on a budget ..or like when first starting out .... It can be pretty overwhelming having to deal with batteries ...flat top...button top .... get out the calculator to figure the math to buy the proper batts so as not to have anything blow up in yo face.... aye..aye...aye
Best to keep things simple and straight forward for beginners ...and let them advance on to the more sophisticated stuff as they gain confidence. No B&M's within hundreds of miles here  .... no one to hold my hand and show me how ...eventhough I ALWAYS had youse guys

I'm trying to help my home care nurse to quit smoking. I gave her an Ego with a small battery and a drip tipand e-liquid, of course 1 Her initial reaction was that she like the taste of Banyan Tree and that she liked the size. She found my eleaf ans subohm tank to heavy ans cumbersome. I just want her to quit smoking or to reduce her cigarette use.

Any suggestions?
Well as for my suggestions if it is because the battery is too heavy (my problem still) I would say the eleaf iStick TC 40 with a Protank/Unitank/Aerotank..............those are all light weight enough......if it's the iStick that's too heavy then the AIO is alright....but doesn't last long.......so tell her she will get used to it fast enough...........

Tiggs have a good nap............

OK, Chief, I'm trying to roll my tired old brain back a year to "the beginning" so I can speak like a Newbie instead of a... what's that title on the avatar... Vaping Master? I bought one cigalike and my wife and I shared it and it lasted less than one day. No way would that POS ever have allowed either of us to stop or even reduce our smoking. Of course, all people are different and I know some folks, few as they are, even today, that vape only those things that look like and almost feel like a cigarette in their hands. My wife got an EVOD as her "starter" and it allowed her to stop smoking immediately (two cigs day one, none since). I tried an EVOD/Ego-type and wasn't happy with it because it did not have the warmth of smoke. A few people suggested I step up to something with VV/VW capability, but I did not want a giant box mod and huge tank (looks like I'm sucking the antenna of a small two-way radio), so I got an Eleaf iStick 30W and a KangerTech Protank. I could turn up the Watts to get the warm suck and that helped immensely to rid me of my desire for the stinkies. Today, of course, I do have a few of those large mods, but if someone had put one of those in my hands last year, I think I would have shied away from vaping because it is just too much too soon. It took time for me to absorb the learning requirements, understand how everything works, and make my own decisions as to which way to go. Wifey graduated to sub-Ohm and direct lung, makes her own coils, wicks, joose, etc., but I am still a Tootle Puffer, sucking my pacifier in complete contentment. Take it for what it's worth...

And speaking of Wifey's mods, the paint is dry and these iStick TC60W mods (one purple, one red) got a clear coat before I put them in her hands.

She looked at the red one and said, "Oooooh! The reminds me of the Ruby Slippers." (ala Wizard of Odd... wiz of mod? Oz?) So I chanted for her:
There's no place like Vape Tree.
There's no place like Vape Tree.
There's no place like Vape Tree.
Poof!!! You're a vaper!!!

Welcome to ECF @j_rily Check out this neat contest thread where you can win some really good e-liquid just by chatting with the great folks who hang out here (see complete "rules" on page 1). Lots of fun here! Nicest people on the forum and you just might learn a thing or twelve... :)

Just over 3½ hours at W left today. Not going bad at all. Having a vape break and shared my lunch with the birds today. They seem to be enjoying it too. It's a mostly sunny 68° F with a light breeze. I need a lawn chair in the shade, lol.

Catch y'all later. Hope it's a good day!

Terrible to have to quote myself, but it has been suggested to get closer to Oz AND vaporland, that should have been, "There's no place like Ohm." :)

And @glassmanoak - I should add something to my previous description of learning to vape: I joined this forum in June of last year and, at that time, you had to make five posts in the Newbie section before you could post anywhere else. The responses I got to my newbie questions almost made me quit this forum because everyone was trying to push me to the dark side, even as a beginner. They showed me pictures of huge mods with huge tanks with double and quad coils and gooey-greasy looking wicks and told me I must have that setup. Just because that is what THEY were vaping today doesn't mean that is what a newbie wants or would even be remotely happy with. All of us who are trying to advise you on how to help your nurse should keep in mind what they vaped in the beginning, not what they are vaping today. Luckily, however, I found the Tootle Puffer thread and this one, where there were some reasonably sane people not pushing "Clouds Bro."

Now for a slight deviation from the current season, for those of us who need to feel a bit cooler than the blazing thermometer...
