He was glad to have a small personal office, cubicles were not his thing. The walk down the long hall, was no more than walking between short walls of cubicle sections, a small entrance here or there; a turn down that way to the left. Mac continued to walk past everyone, there were sounds of voices in the air, people calling out and talking to others, someone carrying mail went past him quickly. Mac moved to the side and let the mailman go by, he watched his cup carefully and did not spill the contents.
The sounds of typing in the air, hushed voices talking loud enough to be heard on the phone, but not trying to disturb the others. A printer could be heard off in the distance, and the sound of a fax machine coming on-line. Always the same smell he though, coffee, doughnuts, the old carpet. "They really need to get new carpet." he thought as he continued to walk, the lines in the carpet where clear, the paths easy to follow, years of service.
He finally made it to his office and shut the door, it was not much a few blinds but open, no windows to the outside world. He walked around his desk and set down his cup, the computer was on sleep and he tapped the mouse button and awoke his computer, there was a stack of paper on his desk, work still needing completed from the day before. "Where was his helper?" He thought as he picked up his coffee and took a sip, he noticed the mail in the box to his right, he took the cup into his left hand and reached for the mail with his right.
Mac set his cup back down and began to sort
through the mail, junk mail, junk mail, working for the government, and still junk mail. "Wait, what is this?" Mac stopped at one letter and looked at the text and format, official, he turned the letter around and opened it with his finger. Taking out the paper, he unfolded it, and began to read. Mac leaned back in his chair, he was being re-located, and would have to leave his family behind.
Mac put his hand to his forehead and thought, "How will I tell my wife and children? I am so close to retirement anyway, why would they do this?" Mac, sat there for a long time thinking, the sounds outside finally got his attention, and he took his cup and another sip. He set the letter down on the desk, and sighed. Mac started looking over his paperwork, not nearly as motivated.
Angel made it to work, the last few days were grating on her hard, her car needed a battery charge, the alternator changed, and possibly a new starter. She was thinking is was about time to let go of that car and move on, she walked quickly towards the door, ready for another day. Angel continued to walk but slowed a bit, she could not believe what she was seeing. Someone had come in and re-arranged the room, her desk was moved, and not to a nice location.
Angel kept walking into the office room, all the furniture was moved and there were extra pieces of furniture as well, she continued to look as she heard sounds coming from down the little hall towards the small kitchen. The sounds got louder and finally Angel's boss came into the room. "Angel! I am so very glad to see you! I had your things moved, so that my daughter could come here and do her things, that is fine by you right?" Angel smiled, she knew she had to. "Yes, that will be fine, good morning." Angel walked over to her desk, it had been turned and pushed towards the wall. Her desk had faced her boss' previously, but now Angel's back was to her boss and she could watch her all day if she wanted to. Angel sat down, and began to work, though inside she was very un-happy. She did more than she needed to every day, it was a thing of pride. Angel grabbed the stack of papers and folders and started to flip
through them, she found the name on the folder she needed. "Jenkins, Allen." she opened the folder and began to read the legal papers inside.
"Well, I have some things to do...... check back in later." typed Blue. She was leaving the
thread, but not done for the day, she spoke to Katz elsewhere. Blue finally parted for the day with Katz, she really had things to do, she needed to go grocery shopping, fresh vegetables, some cereal. Blue made it to the exit of her building, and opened the door, the sound hit her hard. Blue cringed, it did not matter what time of the day, it always seemed wrong. The lawn mowers and weed eaters were kicking up a lot of dirt, pollen and debris.
Blue sneezed, there was a lot of pollutants in the air, and no cover from it, she exited just as one of the larger mowers came to the edge of the concrete and blew the dirt, and sand up into the air. Blue sneezed again, as she continued to her car. Her nose was starting to clog up. "Oh, I can't wait to get this shopping done, and get back home, where it is safe." She looked up at her antenna, the tape was just letting go, she grabbed it and twisted it tight again, she liked to have the radio on as she drove.
Blue turned on the radio and listened, it was a good enough song, she touched the pre-sets and changed the station, it was on a song she really enjoyed Bon Jovi. Blue smiled and put on her seatbelt, she put her car into reverse and started towards the grocery store. Blue did not like larger groups, or large amounts of traffic, she was afraid of them, just did not like it.
She already had plans for the evening, work to do. Tonight was a special night for her, she was going to charge her crystals and strengthen some spells already cast. She found the ride pleasant, the traffic was light, as she did not take the main streets, she knew a faster way in the back streets. Blue made it to the store and got out of her car, she walked fairly quickly to the entrance, and the doors opened for her, the air inside cooler than outside. She breathed in. "Is that fresh cantaloupe in the air?" she wondered, something fruity.
She went fast for the things that she came for, and tried not to look at all the sales and specials. Blue grabbed all that she wanted and went towards the register. A lady moved past right in front of her and placed some fresh French bread out, the smell was wonderful. Blue could see a little steam, catching just behind the plastic window. One row said "Normal." the other row said "Garlic, and herb." Blue could not resist and grabbed one from the garlic row
