E.1.13.

Ted started the car back up and asked Jaki. "So what is the address?" Jaki responded. "808 N. Uber Street." Ted pulled his phone out and pulled up the map app to find the location he said while looking. "Call Chris and see if he can get the numbers, and address' to the other two" Jaki took out her phone and notebook, selecting Chris on contacts she waited for Chris to answer. Ted found the address and viewed the direction he would need to take, he waited for other cars to pass, more people were driving on the road. The street came clear and he moved forward, people were starting to walk on the street. He had to turn around the apartment 17 blocks away and the route would take them right past the university.

Ted was turning a few times to get back around circling the block, the ringing finally stopped. Jaki started talking "....... Yes, Chris this is Jaki, are you at work today?..... Good, can you do me another favor?...... Great, we have two names and they should be in Suzy's phone. Can you get us the phone numbers and address' to Suzzana Barker and Tony Trainor?..... Yes Suzzana, sounds like z's...... I am thinking o and not e....... Great....... Uh huh?....... Really?....." Ted looked over at her for a moment and then back at the street, the road cleared and he was able to go right, on the one way street.

Jaki continued. "Okay, it would be great if they could...... Wonderful job Chris..... Yes we are going to the house of Shelley Peterson now..... Great, thanks." Jaki hung up and Ted asked. "What is great?" He slowed down as a car turned in without time and distance. Jaki looked up and saw it, she replied. "Jerk. Oh Chris said the coroner might be able to get us some information. Where the victim was bitten, they left saliva so we might be able to get some dna of the killer."

"Hey, that is some good news it would be our first tangible evidence. Good eye for the doctor." Ted was able to come back to speed and they were half way there. "After this, I think we should find something for lunch, I am getting kinda hungry." Ted said while still watching the road. "That should be fine, what are you thinking?" Ted said. "Chinese sounds good." Jaki took her phone and started looking for a good Chinese restaurant.

A few moments Ted turned down Uber street, a one way, he watched the numbers as Jaki continued to look at her phone. "Here it is." He pulled behind the blue Nissan park on the side of the road. A row of three apartment complexes connected to each other, each two stories tall. The brick was a different shade of red, Shelley's a little duller, the middle looked like a pizzeria, the third like Shelley's.

The two exited and crossed the street, concrete squares with two missing for the two large trees on either side of the property, steps led up each to each door, the middle door looked the most secure, the furthest right must have been replaced recently and looked the newest. Jaki and Ted went to the left door and Ted opened the metal outer door and knocked on the wooden one behind. He waited a few moments listening, nothing, he knocked again. The door latch could be heard being removed and the deadbolt unlocked, as the door opened a young lady looked at them.

"Yes?" Jaki moved up a little closer and took out her badge, she said. "I am detective Grimes, I called you earlier, this is detective Lancaster." Ted pulled out his badge as well. Shelley was dressed in a jeans, tennis shoes and a t-shirt, with a light sweater over it. She was only at most 5'9" blonde haired, blue eyes, her hair free and almost down to her elbows. "Yes, I remember." Ted answered back. "Is there any way we can come inside, it is kind of cold out here?" Shelley stood up and registered his words. "Oh of course, I am sorry please come in."

Shelley moved back and held the wooden door, as Ted held the metal one open for Jaki, the TV was on and on the news. There was Theodore on the steps in front of the courthouse, the sheriff standing beside him, it looked like a hundred reporters and people in front of them, the sound was off and Jaki could tell that he was listening to a question. The gray carpet was not new, and worn a little but did not need replaced yet. A toddler was on the ground gumming a big yellow plastic ring.

Ted just came inside and stopped as he took the door and closed it, Shelley moved back and picked up the baby. "You came to ask about Suzy didn't you?" she bounced the baby in her arms as the baby continued to chew on the ring. "Yes, we have." answered Jaki. "Terrible, just terrible. Who would do such a thing?" Ted said. "That is what we are trying to figure out. We are sorry about this, but are just getting into contact with all of Suzy's friends and family hoping to get information about the crime."

Shelley moved over to the sofa and sat down, she placed the baby in her lap. "Do you think that the person is coming after me?" she moved her hands through her hair. "No, we have no reason to believe that." said Jaki as she moved between Shelley and the TV so that Shelley could not see the screen, in a way that was not obvious to Shelley. "Do you have reason to think you are in danger?" Shelley put her hand on her baby, which must have been a little girl dressed in a cute pink dress. "No, I mean... I don't know." she looked up at Jaki, starting to bounce the baby hiding her fear.

Jaki took a card out of her pocket with a pen. "Look, this is my card." she said as she wrote on the back. "I want you to call these numbers, they can help with milk, eggs, bread, butter, things like that." Shelley continued to bounce the baby, but drew her closer to herself. "The next number is an agency that can assist with electric bills, gas bills. Okay?" Jaki handed the card forward to Shelley and she took the card and started to read the numbers and names.

"I am a good mom." she said. "I know you are, your child looks healthy and happy, but you can get help. We are going to leave, and if you think of anything you can call me okay?" replied Jaki. "Okay." said Shelley, as Ted opened the door to leave, Shelley stood to lock the door behind them. As Jaki went outside she stopped. "You will be fine, turn off that TV or put in a movie, stop watching the news." Shelley held her baby in her left arm and placed her right hand on the wooden door. Jaki let the metal door go, and Shelley locked it. "Get some rest, you will need it for your child and it looks like you need to eat." Jaki said a little more stern.

Shelley nodded her head yes, and gave a week smile as she closed the wooden door. Jaki turned to walk across the street and could hear the locks being put back into place. A car was coming down the street and she picked her pace up just a little and got back into the car. "Stupid reporters, I detest them. Why do they have to harp so much on things like this, it just makes me......." said Ted breathing in deeply. "She will be okay." said Jaki, she knew Ted was more effected by little children than anything else. "Her doors are strong, it is okay. I found a good Chinese buffet, my treat."

Ted turned on the car and sat for some time, he looked over to the apartments and put his left hand on his forehead. Jaki waited a few moments. "Hey you." "What?" he asked. "Do I need to drive?" she responded. "No...... just give me a few moments." He sat there thinking about something, his breathing a little heavy, he adjusted in the seat and closed his eyes. "So where is this Chinese buffet?" Jaki said back. "There is more than one choice on Chestnut Street." Ted opened his eyes, and took a few deep breathes, he looked over at Jaki and smiled a little. "Chestnut?" Jaki nodded yes. "I know where that is Chestnut and?" Jaki responded. "Go to south 21st Street and then we can choose from any of them."

Ted thought a second longer, and finally put the car into reverse, he backed up a little slower, and made the space to move around. Another car was coming and he waited for it to turn, Jaki touched the second pre-set on the stereo, soft rock and oldies. The Boxer played on the radio, and as the car passed Ted pulled out slowly, and then came to speed. "Sorry." Jaki said. "It is okay, we all wish we could take care of children better. I am thinking General Tso's chicken." Ted nodded as he thought about it. "Spicy hot I like that.... you do not like spicy?" he looked at her with a question. "No, you do I want shrimp." Ted heard shrimp and cringed himself. "Yuck shrimp, might as well be a bottom feeder, chicken will do."

and getting ready for W on Sunday....:(..I am going to miss the morning games.....but hopefully I can catch the ending.....
10/23 - 1: Good morning Blue, I am sorry you will miss the games. My team plays on Monday, and with the quarterback out and the two first main receivers.... a miracle would be needed for them to win. Okay, I do not know how other writers are, but about 1,000 words takes me over an hour to make sure and read back, and make it "more real." So when you are reading it like, hey that was nothing. It was something.... just sayin. Again good morning, and thinking on it.

Oh Go Tide!!! Who dat!!! Go bolt!!!! and that is saying something against a team I like the Falcons. Good news is The Walking Dead is back, not for the week of heart, if you watched the last episode, and I am pretty sure who is gone, well you as well if you read.
:tumble:
Edit: actually longer..... dang.

Good morning, everyone.

Tiggs, my experience has been that every writer works differently. Some work in constant revision mode; while, for others, it is better to just write without re-thinking and throw words at the page in big splats before going back with a knife and cutting out the dross. Either way can be a torturous experience.

Oh, and I realized this morning that it appears that several of us who follow NFL closely among the Treefam will likely be pulling for the same teams: Go Saints, Texans, Chargers...!
