Played Spades a lot during my early years in the Corps - was never hard to get a game going.

Still moving a little slow but was able to get some stuff cooking in the crockpot.

Spades game is easy in this way, all cards are passed out, in Mexican two 2's are tossed aside. If you have the Ace, King, Queen and Jake of the spades you have four wins. Each suit has four just like it. You have to lay down a card of the suit played, if caught you go back 100 points. Each round goes around clockwise, and makes you the last to bid. So as you hear each other bidding before you and believe them, or sandbagging. You can bid zero. If you do not win one suit you get 100, if you did not look at your cards while listening and bid nello and get zero suits you win 200. The limit is set before the game usually 1,000 points.

Anyone up for a game? Sure we can find a on-line version? Yes Katz road trips are nice; had a few. One to Colorado for the Nascar race; watched it on the TV and when they do the boost it up, you turn your speakers up as loud as you can. No match to being there in person, with earplugs in we were six seats to the left of the line and 12 seats up. With earplugs you could still hear it and feel it.

After a yellow flag and the cars bunch up and finally green again, when on TV they say "Crank it up." In person, wow..... you could feel the wind push past you by the cars, and the sound. Like its own heartbeat, thump thump thump, pushing you back in your seat. One day on my bucket list is to see one game of NFL live and just embrace the crowd; another to go to Rome and see the coliseums and that history.

So anyone up for a game of spades?

Good afternoon all. Slowly getting going here. Had coffee and now thinking about something to eat.

I played a little bit of spades back in college but never really got into it. It was usually the game Uno.

Went to Daytona for the weekend once... Trucks Friday, Nationwide Saturday and Cup Sunday! It was awesome!

Glad you made it home safely Jpf! :)

I grew up near Talladega, so we used to go the races there. Also grew up with the Allison family and Neil Bonnet just about 15 miles from me. My mom's bf used to take us to Bobby Allison's house and we'd use his boat to go cruisin' on the river. Those were fun times!

Sigh... I guess the it will be another Superbowl rooting against the Brady Bunch... At least, I can root for the Falcons a little more easily, having had to travel to Atlanta monthly for one of my jobs. No such ties to any of the other cities that were in the running.

Good night, Treefam!

1/22 - 4: Sorry @angelphyre the falcons won, but they are a team I like for the colors. Red and black like Texas Tech. Usually an AFC fan but not going for the cheaters Pats and crybaby brady....
:tumble:
Yeah I wasn't happy about the Falcons winning, but as much as I can't stand them, I can't stand the Pats even more! This is one super bowl that I think we'll be skipping watching this year...bf and I just can't bring ourselves to root for either team! :nah:
