TIOA Sns9 eps 54: Abby was asleep under the skins, her body getting warmer as Theo held her close sleeping, Pallab was around her as well and was close adding heat, he was finally asleep. Latrell had Pallab help him gather some wood, and after that they took turns and Pallab was finally asleep close to his mother.
Latrell watched the fire, he had made a second so that the fire was on both sides of them and his mother, her face just outside of the skins her eyes closed. Latrell watched through the night, he had placed swords and daggers all around them, and took the arrows back out, though one broke, at the tree near the bow and his mother.
The night was long and Latrell watched as Theo moved around, his mother moved towards him and adjusted in her sleep, she placed an arm around Theo and he moved back closer to her. Latrell watched over the fires and was feeling the sleep coming, he went to Pallab and shoved him gently. "Pallab" he said softly. "Pallab?" Pallab moved and opened his eyes slowly looking at his older brother.
He rubbed at his eyes and finally said. "What?" Latrell moved towards him and said. "It is your time to watch." Pallab moved under the skins the heat nice, he finally moved away from the skins the air much colder, he got up and wrapped his coat around him, his left arm slower, the blade cut made it harder. "How is your arm?" asked Latrell. Pallab moved it slowly, his shoulder stiff. "Good enough." He looked over and took the clothes off and looked at it in the fire. Latrell came over and saw that the cut was congealing, he had the water and poured some of it on the wound.
"Enough." said Pallab as it hurt and went to the fire, he turned as Latrell came closer and knelt. Pallab looked at him and said. "Your face is still covered in blood." Latrell put his hand up to his face and could feel the dried blood on his face, it was in his hair and beard. Pallab took the canteen and put water in his hand and on Latrell's face.
Latrell moved away from him and said. "Stop." Pallab moved up and said back. "You need to clean up, just like you did for my shoulder." He went forward and poured the water gently on his face and beard. Latrell looked at the fire and did not think about it, he was in a daze. He did not notice as Pallab got up to the stream and got more water. He came back and knelt and gave Latrell a small drink, he then went at it again. "Bend forward."
Latrell heard him and came out. "What?" Pallab said back. "Move forward so the water does not get on your clothes with the blood." Latrell moved his face and body forward, closer to the fire, his body stiff, he let Pallab wash the blood from his face and beard. "Done, go to bed." Latrell waited a minute close to the fire he did not want to move. "Go to be Latrell." said Pallab softly.
Latrell finally got up and went towards the skins and entered, the earth was warmer there as his mother still slept with Theo, he snuggled close and his mother moved away his clothes cold, Latrell felt it coming on and went to sleep. In time Abby moved over to him, he was warmer than she and Theo felt the cold and turned back to her and snuggled close again.
Pallab watched as the others slept close to each other, he tended to the two fires and watched the night sky as it turned to dawn, his eyes getting heavy and dropping at times, he stood and gathered more wood. The horses were on the ground near the ground and fire, the others that had come with the attackers came close and sat near them huddled near each other and let the fire give the first two heat and then let the others give them more as well.
Pallab looked over them all, his coat close on him and he added more wood to the fires, the night sky cold; he looked at the big men laying on the ground, he took another coat off of one of them and saw a shiny blade, he took his out and the other and weighed them, the man's was heavier but of better material, and laid his down and took his, he went to the second horse, she looked at him as he took some of the meat and tore away from it.
Pallab had a good size piece of meat and sat near the fire, he sat close to the fire and ate on it, and chewed slowly. The sun was coming over the horizon and he could see the clouds being lit just a little, he wanted to be back in bed; but Latrell had just got there. Abby had moved over to him and they snuggled close spooning. Theo moved behind her closer and snuggled close, Abby felt better in the heat, but she was not coming out.
Pallab watched as they slept, his mother was not waking like she would with the first light; something was wrong. He added more wood to the fires, and watched as they slept. Theo moved away and saw the light, he took his time and finally got up, towards the fire. Pallab sat down as Theo came to him; Theo sat near him.
"Good morning." said Theo as he sat near Pallab, Pallab handed him the canteen and got up, he went back to the horse and took the meat, the big stone near the fire he laid it on, and let it warm up. The horses laid their heads back down, and Pallab took a piece of meat and gave it to Theo, he chewed on it slow looking at the fire.
