Thanks to call for clearing that up for me. Sounds like some research is in order! If it's cheaper and better ... I'm in. Just have to learn a little more about it. For now, I'm going to try the rinsing thing agian and see how long I can get out of my next head. This is very informative and interesting. :)

For a ball of yarn from Walmart and a $8 100 foot spool of 32g kamthal from eBay, you can literally rebuild 1000s of better tasting wicks! Just don't throw out those unusable heads while you're researching.... They're all rebuildable.

Awesome sauce! Thanks. Will start saving!!

Gee, folks, don't toss the heads! They can be rebuilt for pennies and in a few minutes, once you master the skills. This beats about $2.50 for replacement heads.

Save them. They don't take up much space. And, even if you don't ever get into rebuilding them, I'll bet a market in the classifieds will develop for spent heads. I could see 15 of them going for $15-20 or so. (Shipping is very little via USPS first class parcel rate -- $0.86 in a bubble envelope.)

Vodka, hot water, everclear, denture cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners ... All clean the wick good, but not the coil gunk. The heads have lasted about 2-3 weeks for me cleaning wicks out every 5-7 days. Just rinse out, put the head back on to the lower base part, screw back on your battery and do a dry burn for a second to ensure the coil heats up. If good, reinstall the rest of the kit and you're good to go.

Been experimenting rebuilding heads with cotton wicks (yarn or butchers string), it's very cheap, and much better taste than the stock silica wicks not to mention probably better for you as silica may shred. Quite a few very long and informative threads on this ... Give it a try, I for one will not use the silica wicks again. Cotton rebuilding is super cheap, much better taste, perhaps better for you, and only takes a few minutes. All IMHO of course!

Great avatar Light Seeker

I just moved up from a Green Smoke kit to an eGo V w/a mini vivi knockoff and my Fireball ejuice tates great.

Just reading this thread and wanted to comment on smoking batteries

Ya, I was surprised when I first vaped off of my mini-Nova and it's been my primary ever since
One issue tho is I managed to bend the center post a little bit when I was holding the entire rig with my teeth via the driptip
Tip came loose and the whole thing(1300mAh battery too) landed on the sidewalk. Everything still works, but like I said, the center post is off-center by maybe half a millimeter. Doesn't affect it at all so I've left it, that and I fear if I try to straighten it out it'll break

You can pop it back into place easy by just holding the plastic tube and giving it a small tug towards where it needs to go, with the lid off but on the battery. It doesnt take much effort so do it nice.

I got my nova a little over a week ago and I was really impressed. I put it on my variable v-tube and I think I cooked the coil. I was showing off to my friend, playing around from 3v to 6v. I couldn't get the burned taste out afterwards. Put a new coil/wick on and I'm keeping it low voltage, 3.6 or less.

I just bought a zenesis universal atty and provari mini, waiting them to arrive. I'm hoping that the flavor would be better.

I kind of like the mods because it makes me think of building a light saber.

my husband managed to break his vivi nova. apparently he had a full tank of juice and didn't want to bother dumping it out so he took PLIERS to get the head out and replace it with a new one. and now he says it won't fire. he said he was switching heads because the juice was tasting burnt. if the juice is tasting burnt you clean it out you don't dump more liquid on top of it! sigh
>.>
he also almost killed another vivi nova by dropping it, now the center post is bent. I read somewhere that someone tried to straighten theirs out with pliers and managed to snap it off completely. The new rule is we don't take pliers to our vivi novas. Lol

HAHAHA...Husband training takes patience:) Sounds like you got it tho:p

I use pipe cleaners to scrub out my RBAs. Tried the alcohol, but I could still taste the alcohol afterwards. Guess I didn't rinse well enough? Anyway...pipe cleaners and hot water for me.

Also, I use cotton balls for wicking. Super absorbent, all natural cotton balls. Cleaner taste for me:)

just got my vivi nova yesterday. It's working very well for me so far but i have a couple questions. when I screw my top cap on it pushes down on the rubber gasket so much that it kinda flares out by the wicks, does anybody else's do that? I'm scared it's going to affect how well it wicks. Also, has anybody had issues with keeping it on it's side? I've had experiences with my stardust where it will leak/gurgle if i keep it on it's side for a while
