... I can't figure out what type he is. I live in Northern AZ, and he is black with yellow fur on his sides. His head would look the same except it's red (no bigger than the rest of him), and he has black tufts at both ends that are longer than the yellow fur. He is about an inch and a half long.

That's one of those "Northern Arizona Son Tasting Yellow-fur" caterpillars.

They are deadly. Use caution.

Your son isn't under 90 pounds, is he?

Alright people. Ds found a caterpillar at school yesterday. Some blessed soul helped him make a house for it with a tissue box and some mesh. This morning it fell between the cracks in the deck right after DS said "He's my best friend."  He was devastated. Well, when I got back from buying one of those butterfly houses that you order the larvae for, I FOUND THE CATERPILLAR!!!!! Called his teacher and let him know. Now I'm trying to figure out what he eats. He seems disinterested in the lilac leaves DS gave him yesterday. I can't figure out what type he is. I live in Northern AZ, and he is black with yellow fur on his sides. His head would look the same except it's red (no bigger than the rest of him), and he has black tufts at both ends that are longer than the yellow fur. He is about an inch and a half long. PLEASE HELP! If this thing dies before it makes a chrysalis it's not going to be pretty.
Caterpillars -- identification guide -- Discover Life

Black and Yellow fuzzy caterpillars eat things such as... Leaves, and big pieces of grass.
Also, if keeping one of these, keep it out of direct sunlight, otherwise, it will shrivel and dry up... a good place for it would be in a dark garden. :)

A 'liked' post does not mean you've got that number (or that you yourself are even liked). The first person to pick a number gets that number whether it's marked on the board or not. When we 'Like' your picks that means one of the five helpers are marking them on the board. If there are any mistakes/conflicts, we will reply to your post. So check back a while after you pick to see if we noted any problems.

Please do not edit your pick posts. If you see that someone already took your number, please wait for a helper to post the error. Please post the helper's reply with you new picks (use "Reply With Quote").

A helper will announce a new round of picks at random times, so check back often and keep track of what round you've already made picks in.

Rounds may last anywhere from 6 seconds to 36 hours based solely on our whim. There are no rules. Life is unfair. Good luck!

We call it a "reset" when we go into a new round. You still keep all of your previous picks. If you miss a round you do not get to back and make up picks. You can only make picks for the current round.

The game ends when the sheet is filled. We then announce the winning pick.

Theses aren't rules. They are guidance. And they may change at any time. Without prior notice. Maybe even without ensuing notice.

If you can't see the spreadsheet, here is a link to an alternate view of it. However, this view may be up to 5 minutes out of date, and you must refresh the page to see the most recent update.
