Oh wow..am I glad I found this thread. There are so many times that I have wanted to know something and thought..."I can't ask that cause it sounds like I am stupid". It took me awhile to read and catch up to the end of your thread...but so much good info!. And I do have a question. I just got my first stardusts last week. I love them! But...I went on utube for a video to clean and followed it. It worked well and I have cleaned and dry burned what I thought was successfully. But when I read your instruction here, they are different for the dry burn. You mention taking off the little white silcone cap. The video did not say to do that, and I have not been doing that and they appear to dry burn just fine. Am I asking for trouble? Should I be taking it off? My old fingers do not tinker well anymore and if it is not truly needed...???

Look forward to many more informative posts from you all. I have been reading about the vive and the new rebuildable stardusts, and am trying to decide which ones to try first. Hope you all have a great day.

No, you don't have to remove the white cap - I don't as I have a hard time getting it and the metal post beneath it back in place. I just pull it up slightly with a pair of tweezers, and push it back down when I'm all done.

And thanks for the kind words. :)

How do you know when the coil glows/is clean, if you don't pull it off?

you cannot miss it...it glows red through the silcone cap...you can also see it just looking down the center. I have done this twice with mine and they seem to work just fine. Thanks morgan for verifying that someone else does it this way...after reading about removing it, I was worried I was going to ruin my awesome stardusts.

ps.....just ordered some rebuildable stardusts...the vivi are out of stock and I kindof want to wait for the vivi mini to hit. Can someone please verify which sleeve I would use on the vivi for my ego twist? I have not been able to figure it out as it seems there are 4 different sleeves and many cones.

Thanks for the information everyone. I never thought about leaving the silicon cap on for the earlier versions. I just always pulled it out and put it back in. It took a bit of practice but I was getting better. Now..of course since I am used to that along comes the new version that is replaceable. I too would like to know if I can just leave the silicon cap on while dry burning the new version. I did it once and it seemed ok. We removed the cap by accident. I was swishing the head around and the long wicks slid out. My husband was looking at it, accidentally pulled the cap off and low and behold there are notches..very easy to put the wicks back in. So..I know how to remove the cap and what it looks like..I just don't know if I have to remove it for a dry burn. I'm wondering if it would be extra difficult to put the short wicks back in..such tiny little tufts sticking out.

I just realized I'm not in the Stardust thread...this whole post is about Stardusts. Sorry about that.

okay..I have a question. First off just fyi, I only vape vg. I have cleaned my stardusts twice now. After the last clean I filled with virgin vapors ameretto (YUM). when it was time to refill, I took off the drip tip and the little silcone ring is all messed up... stretched out, falling off. I managed to get it back on and the tip tightened, but now when I vape, I get juice out the bottom and into my battery connection( ego twist). It appears that the twist is sealed, but is there anyway to fix my stardust? I am thinking that the silcone ring is not on there right anymore so when I vape, it is pulling juice up into the tube??? Does this sound logical? Altsmoke sells driptips just for the vision clearomizers (aka stardust). I am thinking that one of these might save this one. Also, do you think the juice caused the damage to the silcone ring?

I was just going to try to answer some of these questions when I realized that I don't know if people are referring to the old style stardusts or the new ones with the replaceable heads.

This dummy has gotten to be a dab hand with the old style stardusts, but hasn't even seen a new one. So please mention which type you are talking about so I know when to .... out. Thanks!

This is the seal that normally sits on the stem of the mouthpiece, right? There is another just inside the throat of the tube...

It probably isn't the juice, but just that the mouthpiece was, maybe, a tad tight, or something like that, and it got damaged when being screwed in.

And, yes, the juice will wick up the threads by capillary action and seep a little from the junction between the mouthpiece and the body of the carto.

I would say getting another mouthpiece with an intact ring should fix the problem, hopefully. In the very first run of the Stardusts, a couple of people (including me), had the inner seal fall out, and I could never get it back in, so there was no way to fix it and that unit was "seepy" for the rest of it's long, looooooong life. In fact, it just cracked up on me at the end of July.

Yeah, the o-ring on the mouthpiece can get permanently deformed if it's out of whack when you screw down the mouthpiece, and juice can ooze around it. Been there done that.

Like briar said, taking the mouthpiece, or even just the o-ring, from another stardust will fix you right up.

As I’ve often said here before, I don’t fiddle, mod or tinker. I just want to vape. I can’t be the only one, so I thought I’d start a Gotvapes thread for others like me.

I’d like to recommend my 2 favorite cartos. For me, they are both out of the box ready to go, no hassle, and last, but certainly not least, great tasting cartos. One old; one new.

1) Stardust. I just rinse them out every few days with hot water; maybe soak for a while in vodka if needed. Haven’t had any quit yet. I’ve thrown a couple as they began to leak badly out of the battery end, probably because of gumming up the works. See my first sentence. Each has lasted at least 2 weeks though, so at less than 50c a day, it’s a deal for me.

2) Phoenix XL. Amazing things. Just remember to fill upside down. I didn’t know this at first, and watched juice glug out of the battery end. Pretty funny sight. The thing that really blew me away about these is that, long before I saw a video, I had this baby all apart, cleaned and put back together. It’s that easy. Even did my first dry burn. Woo hoo!

Note that I haven’t tried the 3ml Phoenix yet, but have the feeling it may join my list.

I still have not had a favorite carto or tank yet. I guess I am really hard to please. I was very thrilled with the Phoenix bottom coil but my happiness is dwindling. No major problem with them, just not wowed anymore. I'm not sure what I am looking for. I have not tried the Stardust yet but will order a couple shortly. I am hoping the Raven lives up to it's hype and keeps me content for a while. If they ever hit the shelves!
The ViviNova keep me happy for a while but I am bored with that too now. Must be me. I am the same when it comes to juices. Still have not found a knockout to always go back to.

Maybe you just like variety and new toys. :)

I gave up looking for that "all day vape" a long time ago. For that matter, I swore to myself never to buy a 30 ml of anything ever again - I never get past the half-way mark. I get bored with them.

Some people are like that, naturally, with liquids and equipment both - maybe that's your nature. :)

Me, I'm still stuck on the original Stardust, with occasional foray into the ViVi, and now the modular Stardust - but it's still not the same.
