Little help please gentlemen. When I turn the locking ring on my 2.5 switch to allow firing it almost seems like there is sand in the switch and it feels like a grinding feel.

How do I disassemble the switch to clean?

Be sure to use a soft cloth and maybe a bit of alcohol. No abrasive or chemicals to include Brasso as it contains abrasive grit.

Perseas, I just got into my package a few minutes ago and upon assembling the extra top cap onto the extra SS tube, it has seized up and will not move. Stuck in this position. Won't move in it out.

Any suggestions?

I feel that lack of leverage is keeping me from removing it. But I'm not about to take pliers to this thing! I'm guessing there may have been a burr in the threading that caused this either in the top cap or the tube as it felt a little chunky on the way in.

EDIT: just sustained an injury to my finger trying to unscrew it. Leaving it in the bag now. :(

Mine was like that too. I just kept locking and unlocking and it's gone now.

Bummer! Try throwing it in your freezer for about 10-minutes

I had to use the heating and cooling method with one of the drippers I bought. It was only a cheap one so wasn't to worried about damaging it. The O-rings were literally welded to the inside of the body. Heated it up over the gas stove (wearing an oven mitt for safety), the body literally fell off at this point, then dropped the body straight into cold water. Didn't damage the O-rings either cos I did it quickly.

I wouldn't use this method with my beautiful Lux though, but for a $5 dripper, it didn't matter ;)

Buttery smooth is NOT in the equation at all. Even though these are "extra parts", I don't feel it should be like this.

EDIT: I'm working the threads with generous amounts of Noalox right now, little by little its getting better. I'll keep at it for a while.

EDIT 2: Its now screwing all the way in, but feels like the threads have the texture of a metal file, rather than buttery smoothness.

try screwing it into the other end. should be able to determine if it is the tube or cap with thread problems. noalax wont do much but lube the threads. put some polish compound on it and work it back and forth at the bad spot.

I just used the Noalox as to help keep it from seizing again while I work the threads. And to catch any filings that may result. I just washed off this round of Noalox and the threads feel better, but definitely not buttery yet. Screwing it into the bottom, makes for no resistance, but this is after working the threads in the top for the last 30 minutes. I looked much closer at the top cap threads, and where the threading ends (at the top cap end), it looks like teeth, very rough where that threading gets thin and tapers into nothing. I think that's where the initial problem began. If you reference the picture above, where it had seized was right about where that really rough threading hits the outter thread of the tube.

As of right now, it seems to be threading in nicely with the freshly cleaned off threads. I can hear a the remaining burs as I screw it in, but now there is no worry of seizing as it'll screw in without resistance now. WHEW! I was about to bust a vein in my forehead over this one.
