Wow, looking nice!
I've rebuilt mine with Hemp Twine today. Shall post its details & pics in the K-Lite thread soon.
I've posted my Hemp setup HERE.

Nice tut Q, very detailed. I expected nothing less though sir![]()
Just got my first spheroid and got it set up and it's working great but I'm just wondering if any of you guys have attempted to make the draw a little more airy? Not sure if its the way I set it up but the draw is a little tight compared to my other attys. thanks

Yep, same experience, but I stopped noticing how tight as I slowed my intake/lowered the vacuum.
I only notice now if I use another atty and return to the spheroid.
Only on day two here, but really liking the ease of setup and not worrying about leaking (throwing shade at my divers right now)

Krog!
Easy Peasy.
Check your airtube from the bottom when removing tube and make sure you are not blocking airhole from the bottom with fluff.
The most common fix is raising the coil and wick from the air supply hole on the base. Raising and lowering will adjust the draw.
GL!
hmmm. Well I am currently using ekowool 3mm for fun but, I prefer 2mm or 1.5mmThanks Idaho! Also, what have you found to be the best set-up in regards to wire ga and silica size?

Silica will also work very nicely - 3mm
I am in love with .30 gauge Kanthal 4 wraps around any wick. We can talk about ribbon at another time but it's not needed with a Spheroid.
Check out post #4034 and there are a few of my wicks.
My wicks vary and have pictures of them in gallery. I would start with a small loop with the double tail.
I love the Spheroid.

I feel exactly the same way. I mostly use 2mm eko, but have 3 as well. I generally prefer 30g but it is a little trickier to build in small devices sometimes.
Agree, it just seems to get my ohms preference on the money. I will use occasionally use .28 on ss mesh as it is more forgiving if I have hot spot issues(like on every Zen I ever owned). So, I don't use it much any longer.
I swore I did not need to use ribbon anymore a couple months ago on anything but, I realized I prefer it on mesh set ups. Personally do not see the need for it on silica based attys.
you know what is interesting, I think the ribbon is actually better on silica or ceramic. I find it kinks on the SS mesh, and is sometimes easier to see what is going on with the white background.
I guess we had to disagree on something.![]()
. I dont disagree. I look at as subjective thought my friend, in which I welcome.
I passsed the ceramic phase in a week. Over it. I prefer ss flavor.
I just think on silica based medium that ribbon is fantastic, just overkill. BUT As, the wicking properties are different, you may be correct. Silica does not get as hot as ss mesh so, it would be important to get as much of the medium as hot as possible each fire and physics would tell me that ribbon surface area would create more heat.
thinking now...
on the silica or ceramic, you can see and make sure the ribbon is flat. on the SS mesh, it is sometimes harder to see.
maybe its just my old eyes.![]()
How long do you boil the sera wool? and I too have enough of it to last a lifetime and my grandkids! If anyone is in need of Sera Wool, I have a ton of it. I would be happy to boil some and mail some out.
