I guess I don't fit the criteria since I just got adopted into the family?

I will soon enough be a regular, lol. Not a big deal as I can always pick one up with a future purchase. This is mighty nice of you though. Seems like a great group of people here and amoung the entire forum itself!

One day, I hope to be able to help others out as well on this forum
From your tone and message you indeed have the makings of our regulars. Your post is kinda like a time capsule for me and bringing back memories when I joined ecf and by a stroke of luck landed into this wonderful thread. I say your one of us now. So go for the x-ring. At this time of year let us remember to reach out to all :)

I would try different levels of open. Some too much open is no good. Less is more type of thing. Try different fill levels in the tank.
I'm scanning today and I know someone mentioned one or both of these so I'm sorry. :(
Since it's stick wick, did you trim the wick with the threads? Try taking even more off the length of the wick. I use cotton but those wicks are short (just past ceramic edge).

Yes. Many of us are here. But many ideas that we already discussed are there too :D

Is your juice plain 100% VG or has it been thinned at all? I know that when I ran Boba's Bounty in my Sofia and SnP it didn't wick quite as well as my other juices. It didn't dry hit really but I had to vape it a little slower and give it time. I will say though that even with Boba's I didn't have the control wide open. I generally give my Sofia one full turn and then adjust as needed with a 1/4 turn in either direction. As the tank gets lower ill slowly close off the control until it's pretty much closed for the bottom 1/4 of the tank.

Once you get a system down for your juice control it's really easy. I'm running my Sofia in the SnP steel tank today and can't see anything going on inside. I use the engraving on my drip tip and the engraving on the tank to keep track of where my control is set. And as for juice level it's just a matter of experience and knowing where the level is at by how it tastes and wicks.

Cheers for response guys,
I have been stalking posts re sophia/diver probs and trying loads of different ways with the wick set-up. I have tried diluting with 10% Distilled water which helped but wasn't great.
I have tried playing around with tank level and 1/2-1/4 full seems best performance.
Its usually dry-ish hits sometimes real bad ones though!

I havent played too much with the juice control other than to open it right up, I will try reducing it see how that goes.
It does seem to help reducing the air flow.

I have been running Gorilla Juice, Goose Juice, Gizzard Juice, GVC, Bobas, and a couple of my own mixes. Bobas was probably worst, Gorilla is the only one that worked perfectly for a tank(undiluted in killer), Goose juice will barely work in sophia even diluted and havent tried that one in the killer yet. I know all of these are coil killers thats why I got a stack of coils, but the coils aren't eating any juice to get clogged up!

It have never had the Sophia work well, but the Killer has been fantastic on very odd occasions. Thats what makes this so frustrating.

I got an email from Domo Vapor about some PAPS X's being available due to canceled orders. Two quick emails later and it's on the way. I'm super excited about that. I'm assuming I can just get the new top cap and insulator when they are available and it will be the same as a 1.5. Is this correct? Thanks

This.

I don't know why this is never brought up when people have wicking issues and I'm totally guilty for that myself. The correct airflow is super important for tanks and attys like the Sofia. Good airflow is integral to keeping your vacuum to aid with wicking. Remember that the tightness of the draw isn't just a preference with tanks like it is with cloud chasing RDAs. When you inhale on an atty like a Sofia or Killer you're doing two things, pulling vapour up the tube and pulling liquid in to the atty. This is happening at the same time every time you take a drag. Just simply having your wicks wet is not enough. You NEED a good vacuum that is maintained via airflow. If it's too lose there isn't enough pressure applied to the internal airspace of the atty and and it doesn't suck the juice in, it simply passes right past the coil and goes to your mouth. If it's too tight , the pressure in the atty will be too high and you'll flood. This is why when you block off all the airflow and suck on it there will be juice forced in to the atty.

So this is my suggestion. Get your coil setup and prime your wick. Close off the juice control all the way and vape it a bit until you can tell it's beginning to dry out. Then open the juice control one full turn , you should see bubbles coming streaming out of the juice control. This means your vacuum is working as it stands. If you can adjust airflow , like you implied you can, close it off until it's a fairly tight and have a few vapes. You should still see bubbles coming out , and you should be able to gauge how much juice is going in by how wet it feels and whether its. gurgling. If that amount of airflow is too tight and it floods then repeat the process. Close off the juice control nice and tight, vape it until it starts to seem a little dry and then adjust your airflow so it's a little more open. Eventually you'll find the sweet spot and your wicking issues should go away.

EDIT. I'll add that between attempts at figuring out your airflow it's not a terrible idea to open the fill holes on the SnP AFTER you close up the juice control. This will let your vacuum go and allow you to reset it.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. The paps I get will have the Heron on it 99% of the time and I'm not sure I'd like the look of the bronze and the stainless flushed up right beside each other in a hybrid mode. I'm sure some people are super excited about the way that would look, but it's just not for me. However down the road I might actually want to not have a Heron on it at some point and maybe I'll pick up a lux tube for use with other attys. I'm still on the wait list for Senesis brass , but I think I'm done with genesis attys at this point, so we'll see. As for the contacts, if the bottom contact can be upgraded to the gold then that's good for me, not too worried about the top one because I won't even be using the top cap. So i think it will be a Paps 2.5 in brushed and the Heron in my future. I've already got a Spheroid and SnP tank so I'll own a full line of GP products at that point.

To think that I just got my first GP product , the Spheroid, about 7 weeks ago... and now I've got a tank with a few drip tips, I'm buying a Paps and I helped name the new atty. Though it seems like so much longer ago than that and the reason is the community of people you get along with these devices is second to none, much like the devices themselves.

Thanks P and everyone else.

The gold contacts are purchased as a set, top pins and complete button kit. It would be more cost effective to order a Paps Lux with an SS tube, than it would be to order a SS Paps, Lux Tube and Gold upgrade kit. I guess it just comes down to how important the gold contacts are to you. Just my .02. =)

Question on the Heron.

Is it a different atty than the spheroid? Is it the same basic principle as a spheroid just a hybrid connection and larger juice capacity?

Thanks!

Looking forward to getting a X 1.5 and possibly a Heron to go with it in the future. My Paps 2.5 is getting lonely. :D

Definitely the same basic principle and function. Being 22mm the juice capacity will be larger. I would also guess the draw may be a bit more airy as well due to the nature of the larger build.
I am excited as I think I will be able to comfortably execute an array of different builds. As much as I love my Spheroids this atomizer is as exciting as the X to me...and the LUX...oh and the 2.5 ss, then there was the Piccolo!
Going to be the greatest atomizer for flavor and vapor than we have seen in the industry.

How does the warranty work if you buy a new one from the classies? I imagine we would still get some kind of support from Perseas?

I doubt there would really be any issues, just curious

Welcome! King P will always be there for us. He has assisted many of us with 2nd hand devices and you are no different! It is what he does and what separates his service and love for this industry from other builders. What are you thinking about purchasing? Buy and then tell us!

You know Chad, I was thinking this on the ride home but obviously didn't dare post. Why I always pass over airflow is beyond me. Especially since it's one of the top few things I always check for. Air is actually even more important because it's one thing in the tank that helps with the juice displacement and internal pressure regardless of how open the juice is.

With my GP family growing this is awesome to confirm. Of course I knew this as I've read it. But hearing is another story. Recently added an x and lux through purchase. Then traded for another x and a SS. And I still have two adopted children here that I will have to now say goodbye to. :)

And let's not forget one important thing. The pleasure of vaping on GP. :vapor:

Yup, I always over look it too and I agree that it is very important.
