Greetings!

Grabbed a spheroid v3 kit and a polished x ring and some vase drip tips from domo and couldn't be happier with the paps X.

The spheroid is proving to be a bit of a bugger for me though. Mainly the wick. I'm running a 1.6mm 28ga 0.9-1.0 ohm micro coil with SnC wick, the same coils as my kayfuns.

The difference is I'm pulling a two stand loop of SnC through the coil a hair past the deck edge and trimming the loose end a smidge longer than the deck, roughly 1cm on both sides of the coil. When screwing the tank on I try to keep the wicks straight and "climbing the wall" up to my filler. It works great for a while then droops down.

I'm thinking I need a bigger coil and more yarn to strengthen it up a bit. Going to try a 2mm micro and 3 stands of SnC. While it is working its a beast on the X!

I scored at both Domo and Vapourart. Now... How to sneak the packages in the house...

...have delivered to office...into briefcase...in my hand...

"When'd you get that? I don't remember seeing that one?"

"This? I've had this a long time. Just decided to bring it home from work".

If I had known you were a GVC virgin, I would have included a little bottle with the o-rings. Dealer's gotta deal.

hmm... I'm running a 2mm, 30ga micro (macro?) at ~2 ohms. I can only comfortably get two strands of PnC in there but I have the opposite problem: my wick stays up but then after a few drags gets drawn into the bell while I'm puffing.

Sometimes it even changes the shape so much that it won't contact the fluff and ends up dry-hitting.

... but those few puffs are great!

I showed my wife a pic of a members collection and told her "and that's just his reading room!" She left me alone after that. After she borrowed one of my new spheroids.

I use a 5/64" bit, so about 2mm, and I use 4 strands...i.e., one piece of yarn has 4 strands. More precisely, it's 2 strands folded in half. Use a small, folded in half piece of Kanthal as a needle to pull it through the coil. Leave the loop on the one side. It will seem tighter than with cotton ball, but the yarn doesn't expand nearly as much.

That's what I'll try next then. I should have my v3 kit from Domo tomorrow (I swear Blake has teleporters in the shop) and I'll rebuild it then.

Thinking about trying the mesh/fluff build in the tank section that was just posted in the tips thread too, gotta get rid of all this mesh somewhere!

I've been building coils for going on two years and this is the first atomizer to booger me. Well done!

Woops, I forgot to mention that the two strands were doubled over and there was a loop on the side. However, when I unscrew the upper, I find my wick curled up in a little ball ... presumably right in the bell

I've been using cotton ball wick in my Spheroid for the last week and I have not had a dry hit even once, well, at least not until the juice runs out. My coil is a 1.6 Ohm mini coil, 30 gauge kanthal, 6 wraps around a 2mm drill bit. I just slide through some cotton and trim it at 1 to 1.2 cm from the coil on each side. I've also tried the cotton yarn - not SnC, but some other organic white cotton yarn, and started getting dry hit after a few drags - I think that the regular cotton-ball cotton just wicks better. I use 50/50 juice and I've tried both the fluff from GP (20mm by 85 mm) and white Juwel pads (20mm by 50mm) with equal success. I hope that this helps.

Tip on that.

Pull it through so there is a loop on the one side. Then take that loop and pull it back through the coil and you'll end up with a loop on both sides. Then turn the yarn and get it so the yarn that is making the loops is horizontal. Then what I've been doing us leaving the tails a little long and sitting them on the deck around the air hole. That will catch any excess juice that might dribble down if you over fill it and feed it back in to the coil.

Two things. First, before you put the strands through the coil, unravel them completely. I find that if I don't, they tend to curl a bit. Experiment also with leaving the coils a tiny bit longer. Take how ever many drags you need to, especially if it feel dry, and reopen it. Are they curled up? If so, cut about 1 mm off of each side. Don't worry about your loop. Try again. You may have to do this a couple of times to get it dialed in. Secondly, make sure your coil is not sitting so low as to restrict the airflow. If these two things don't work, let me know.

Where is your coil positioned? mine is between the posts about 1mm above the center hole with wicks perpendicular to the line of the posts ...
