i know, which is why i was being sarcastic. damn you no internet default sarcasm font! but when all of the products are coming from china, can you really expect quality control? especially with an ever increasing demand?
i'm a huge fan of my 3 minis and pt2 which i finally got working today due to an apparent coil issue.

:S = sarcasm yes/no maybe so?

Why do people re-build the heads in Pro Tanks? Wouldn't it just be a lot easier to get an RBA with a tank?

It's a good stepping stone, or at least was for me. I have had a love/hate relationship with ProTanks and rebuilding and even just rewicking was a great step up in consistency, flavor, life of the coil, and so on. I started doing it as an attempt to save a couple bucks and make use of heads that had stopped working well and I didn't just want to toss, but ended up getting me interested in rebuildable stuff that I hadn't considered yet.

I think Nick is just frustrated with the mass of email and comment questions he gets regarding them, and the fact that he has since moved on from that kind of device, he's probably grown tired of answering such questions. I'm sure if he has seen this thread he's probably getting a good laugh at how much discussion it has sparked.

You can rebuild ten protank heads in less than an hour, and just switch them out as you feel like it. They're easy to build and all you need is cotton and kanthal. Your initial investment is also half the cost; $11 for mini protank 2 vs. $20 for RSST. You don't need to work with steel wick or cable, the form factor is smaller, and you don't have to worry about it leaking if it gets left on its side or upside down.

I've tried running my RSST on my VV3, and beauty ring or no, it looks ugly. And honestly, I find the flavor in a vertical coil on a protank superior to my RSST.

I'm not saying the protank is the holy grail, just that it does have its place.

My protank is crud. It gurgles or leaks. Airy as heck. All i do is eat juice. Its not the coils, i bought extras replaced them. I use the same coils in other tanks and they work great. I paid $29 for my protank here locally and feel like a fool when my $6 fast tech kwx5 are awesome. I wanted glass that i could easily change flavors in as im a carto tank user. Thinking of trying tose aero tanks.

I gotta say I gave up on my protanks months ago. I gave my pt 2s away and will probably give the two minis I have away as well. I've rebuilt dozens of heads and can not seem to get a consistently good vape. I've tried cotton wick on a standard 2.5 wrap, silica on 2.5, cotton 2.0, silica 2.0, cotton micro etc... For whatever reason I get a metallic taste and just can not rid of it. It's actually really frustrating for me because I like to believe I build pretty good coils. Idk maybe I'm just so used to my RBAs that the pt's just don't do it for me anymore. Anyone had this issue with there minis or is it just me...?

Stick a PT2 head in there and build a triple-coil on it :)

(Props to flybykite for his crazy coiling skills shown here!!)

That is really really really cool. Thanks for showing it.

I can't even imagine what that would taste like.

I don't own a ProTank, yet, but I haven't had any issues at all with the Kanger T3s. I plan on buying a Mini ProTank next payday. :vapor: The iClear16s are still my favorites (despite the fact they're juice gobbling MONSTERS), but I break out a T3s when I'm in the mood for something different, as the flavor, with the same e-liquid, is completely different compared to my 16s. Still good, just different.

When I first got a Mini ProTank 2 it had a metallic taste, washed it with vodka and pulled a few wraps off a stock 2.5 ohm coil making it 2.0 ohm then wicked it with cotton (with cotton flavor wick)...vaped nice with muted flavor.

Since then I haven't really tasted metal, it was overwhelming at first though.

It's a 40 minute video. I watched the first minute, and he said abosutely nothing useful. He said "Hello" about 12 times and " eventually got to "It's Thursday, and I love doing my blog, but sometimes..." and I decided that was enough.

I'm not going to spend 40 minutes watching an attention ..... talk about himself. Get To The Point.

^^^The reason I don't bother watching many vids anymore. All of the "top" e-cig video reviewers do the same thing... make 20, 30, 40 minute videos with about 5 minutes worth of "meat". Lots of hand-waving and watching someone take several 15 sec. drags, just so they can blow a cloud about the same as I get with my PT2, Evods, or T3S's.

These folks would do well to learn what a storyboard is, make one that is concise and to-the-point, and then stick to it. And for crissakes, quit making me watch them pucker up and take loooong drags, while they just stare at the camera making "funny" eye/head movements... and all the while I'm just painstakingly waiting for some relevant infomation.

Why do people re-build the heads in Pro Tanks? Wouldn't it just be a lot easier to get an RBA with a tank?

No, it would not be easier (for me)... and definitely not as convenient to carry all day either.

With a little 30g, a 1/16th drill bit, and a cotton ball or ecru yarn, I can rebuild a cloud-blowing, good tasting, no leaking, 1.8 ohm PT/Evod head in about 2 minutes flat. And Kidney Puncher has silicone replacement grommets for the RSST (or is it the AGA-T?) that fit these heads just fine... I bought 30.

OTOH, I have two RBAs (AGA-T2 & RSST) and two RDAs (IGO-L & some 15mm POS from FT)... and have yet to make any of them perform like a PT2 with a good coil/head in it.

YMMV
