I'm not going to defend PT's on this thread either. And, just like the other threads, I'm going to sit here and watch while vaping my PT2, specifically the one I rebuilt on Dec 23rd for a series of pictures on another thread. Still vaping just fine, been through 60-70 ml of juice in it already.

Why rebuild clearo heads?

In my case there was 2 very different reasons.
1. It was a good place to jump into rebuilding and really learn what I am doing.
2. Last April when I was relatively new to vaping I heard about the impending FDA Deeming of doom. I wanted to figure out how to extend the life of all my gear as long as possible in case it became difficult or impossible to get in the future.

I like to tell new people. Just rinse your spent clearo heads and dry them well. Toss them in a Zip bag. You never know when you might decide to learn to rebuild or the company will stop producing them. If you never rebuild there are many people here on ECF that would love to have them as spare parts.

What I find surprising is that there's nobody on this forum who speaks Chinese, is located in China where these devices are made and speaks English, or at least has good contacts with the major Chinese companies (Joye, Kanger, etc) and can offer any actual insight as to these companies business and operations.

How do the top-tier American resellers of these products who supposedly sell non-clone products get their goods? In most industries its not uncommon for better/higher-volume vendors to have relationships with the OEMs even if they aren't actually able to buy product directly from them; even if there isn't a direct relationship, there's often at least a good relationship with a distributor who DOES have a relationship with the OEM.

Why aren't we hearing anything from someone who actually knows something?

FWIW, I mostly gave up on EVOD clearomizers. I still have a few but the heads just weren't durable. All worked when new, but some gave me less usable life than a disposable 808 cartomizer and seldom worked better than an average 808 cartomizer. No EVODs work as well as even a single-hole DCT carto in a cheap Smok tank with 100% VG. I still have my EVOD tanks and a half-dozen heads and I keep thinking I should fill one for the heck of it, but mostly they just sit kind of forgotten.

^ I tried like 20 seperate Evod's tonight, 20 seperate heads, and I noticed that they all had either a slight wicky note, or a slight metallic note. All filled by a vendor kind enough to use Evod's for FREE juice testing.

Much better than the PTII heads though, although are Evod heads the same ones?

Either way, it was in the same "family" as the results I got out of the PTII heads, BUT better. Definately better. Just not my kind of thing, the tastes were a little too prominent.

They certainly chain vaped well though - the performance didn't degrade or improve either way.

You chain vaped 20 heads in one night? I find that a little hard to believe.

The manufacturers in China can speak passable english and there IS direct communication between Chinese manufacturers and the U.S. distributors. But it's usually not a major, in-depth conversation. Usually it's, "2000 units in x color, 2000 units in y color", etc. And that's about it.

Really, I think there are a lot of people out there who simply won't be happy until they come out with a disposable cigalike that hits like the MVP 2. I've gotten a lot of people to give vaping a try. Many stayed with it. Many others still smoke occasionally and even more gave up on vaping completely. Why? Because when you light a cigarette, that's all you have to do and it works. That and inhale of course. E-cigs in general are very much something you need to fiddle with. There will always be people who don't want to do that. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It simply is.

My husband is a perfect example of someone who would not be vaping if not for me. He'd jump back to smoking full time in a heart beat if I stopped maintaining his equipment. He has multiple Mini Protank II's because with his way of inhaling or vaping, they don't gurgle for him. If one starts leaking or giving burnt hits, he just pulls another cleaned and filled one out of the kitchen cabinet and uses that one. I'm the one who does the cleaning, filling, and troubleshooting. I've tried to show him, but he isn't interested. He'd rather smoke. He came into this thinking these things would simply just work. He wants his nic fix and he doesn't want to have to rebuild something, dry burn something, or clean something to get it. After all, he was able to get it without any of that for nearly 20 years and that what many, many, new vapers have been able to get for years before they switched to vaping.

This ^^ exactly. So many posters on ECF assume the majority of vapers know as much as they do. When, in fact, it's the exact opposite. WE represent the minority. And your husband is the type of person I see every day. But, hey, at least he's got you. You're a good wife, Tinkie!

...He came into this thinking these things would simply just work...

I was in my local B&M yesterday while the salesman was explaining the details of a new kit to a new convert. I was tasting juice and watching the conversation unfold. As the discussion of myriad details wore on, you could literally see that guys expression change from the excitement of finding a smoking alternative to a look of oh-god-what-have-got-myself-into. Dazed and confused, he is set up for failure if things don't go exactly as planned.

I don't think cigarettes are simply light and go since the whole fire resistant paper fiasco, I had to light each cigarette at least three times.

Before fire safety it was light and go except for the following reasons.

I don't really have to fiddle with my gear that much, take the time I had to find my lighter and relight...wait in checkout lines for purchasing smokes...pack the smokes...clean the wrappers out of my floorboard...dump ashtrays...clean ashes out of console...wash car windows...etc..etc.

Vaping is a huge timesaver, fill tank...push button..charge batteries..re-coil and wick..change batteries..push button

I'll never understand why so many people rush in to say "It's user error!" when someone complains about xyz not working. We're talking about people who used a product for which there practically was no such thing as user error - aside from maybe lighting the wrong end - for years and years. People who, despite mountains of evidence proving the dangers of smoke continued to do so, myself included. I'll continue to recommend Mini Protank II's because I haven't found a product that was absolutely fool proof and they really are one of the easiest things to maintain. That said, I recommend things while understanding that, well, vaping at this moment in time may still not be for every smoker. Not until the technology makes it so that the only thing that could go wrong is that you put the wrong end into your mouth.

Not everyone can recoil and wick. I never had to relight a cigarette after lighting it once, and I was able to plan the waiting on a line to buy cigs where as, if something suddenly went wrong with a tank, it was sudden. I don't mind it all, and I like to fiddle. You don't mind it either. Others however, have been getting their nic fix the same way for many, many, years and are creatures of habit, like my husband. I love him, I don't think there's anything wrong with him, and I know that he would absolutely not be vaping if I hadn't set him up in such a way that unless a fire burned down the house and all the vape gear with it, he always has a back up that he doesn't have to fiddle with aside from screwing on the clearo.
