Suggested Disposal Way:

To end users:
1do not throw or slap the groove battery
2)do not disassemble the groove battery
3)do not hide or drop the groove battery
4)take the battery to local distributors

To distributors:
1)collect defected groove battery and send them to local battery recycling center.
2)If there isn’t any recycling center please try to discharge the groove battery until it wont work
3)You can also Soak them into turated brine concentrated saltwater or seawater for over 1 hour
4)Label them by “Failed” “out of use”

Notice: Please try to consult to professionals if you are not quite clear on how to dispose those battery!

Hey guys, here's what we've found out so far..

We came in today to the notification of this as many of you also saw.

The groove does have a potential problem on the metal units only, the plastic units are not affected.

On the metal Groove units, the screws that are in the middle of the Groove body (2 on each side) are pointy and may protude slightly into the inside of the groove. If the battery were to come loose, there is a potential that the li-poly cell inside can become pierced by the screws. If the cell is pierced, the layers in the cell can short out and cause a battery failure.

The outside of the groove battery is non-conductive and is not shorting out against the case as speculated in some posts.

We are waiting to hear from Smok on the exact procedures they would like us to follow for the recall and will post here as soon as we know..

Thanks,

hoog

Still waiting GUYS:confused:

I put in a ticket on the recall on 6/9/2013 at 18:08 (6:08 p.m.) MV replied to ticket they were checking the validity of the recall and would update.....

Two days later and still waiting....???? but I see they have removed the Groove from their web site.... Thought there might be something on their web site about the recall but didn't see anything...

also saw on another forum thread where Smok has reported to be correcting the issue by shortening the screws and adding a huge protection circuit for the battery....

Hey Folks, We have a process to return these and get you credit or refunds if purchased recently that we'll be posting up soon. The reason for the delay was waiting on Smok to get back from their Dragon Boat Festival Holiday. To be honest, this totally caught us off guard and being a major Smok distributor and getting no prior warning of this coming has me a bit ...... off.

I'm still trying to find out why the plastic grooves are being recalled as we've seen no failures on those (or the metals ones, other than the ecf posts) yet and wanted to make sure that the Groove recall was not hastily posted by Smok before they took a few days off.

Madvapes has no problems taking these back and we certainly don't want to see any damage caused by them but again, I was hoping to be 100% sure we were following the right procedures.

I'm a bit ...... off myself hoog and I read YOUR recall and it said store credit which I don't want. In your above post you said refund and that's exactly what I want. Mine is all pkged up and will be at the PO first thing in the morning.

I'm really not upset now......just a bit miffed about the title of his (recall ?)thread..... "Groove Return Policy" and the small print link on the web site (in the upper right corner)..... "Important Groove Information" ......

Nothing in these titles indicate a recall until you click on the link...... why not just say there is a recall.....so all can plainly see???? Just my 2 cents opinion.....

Probably doesn't matter as Smok's recall notice plainly states.....

2)as for the groove that are already sold to end users, please do a 100% recall instantly

So it's up to hoog how he does the 100% recall.....surely all his Groove customers will be tracked down....

We'll do what we can Bill, after 3 months we are unable to issue refunds due to our card processor, this is typical. We cannot refund more than the actual charge of the order, so if you ordered just a groove and got free shipping, the refund would only include the total we can refund. The shipping would have to be a store credit.

We plan on sending out an email to all the purchasers of Grooves. I'm not seeing anyone else having a link on their website offering any groove information at all. Are there examples?

hoog

hum, haven't checked......if I run across any in my travels I'll let ya know.....guess each vendor has their own way of completing the recall... must say when a device is recalled it creates an unwanted chain of events we all get caught up in....
