this thread has been very helpful for me to order some DIY supplies.. I did not order any type of sweetener as I really did not think about it.. But I am favoring sweet flavors at this time.. Does anyone use liquid sugars, stevia etc? or is there certain sweeteners to use? I am expecting my DIY stuff tomorrow and want to make sure I have all I need to start me experimentations over the weekend..

I've seen ethyl maltol mentioned as a sweetener also. Does anyone have further takes on this?

One of my blogs covers EM and what to expect at different levels. Click the 3 below that picture of me just to the left of this post.

Have you ever tried agave for sweetener? I read that on one of the many many posts here (cant remember which one) that agave was also a good sweetener. I have all my DIY stuff (read your blogs) but have not had the time to really sit down and work on my first attempt.. its been a month for me since I have quit smoking and I am really into sweet fruity flavor juices at this time.. I picked up some agave at the grocery store this morning, and wonder if anyone tried it here and how much, like it not like etc..

Because I've tried flavoring with various sugars and gums and found sugars gunk my heating coils extremely quickly while gums just gunk them quickly. Now I avoid those things. Even using a rebuildable dripping atty I try to avoid stuff that causes my coil to gunk into a hard shell in just a few drops or ml's.

I do use one recipe that will gunk my coil in 10-15ml so my limit is somewhere around 7-10ml I guess... (And it doesn't even have sugar, just a high flavoring % of dark flavoring.)

I think it's really up to the person Hoosier. Some prefer more sugary flavors, some don't.

I am looking for sweet if I need it, does not necessarily have to be sugar.. But would like to know what ingredients I am vaping ! and a couple vendors I have bought from wont tell all the ingredients they use (I understand "trade secret" sort of thing) but giving up cigarettes I am more inclined now to know what I am taking into my body.

Has anyone tried Ahlusion's flavorings? Very limited choice but I love their juices. Apparently Wlad extracts the flavors himself...

Why isn't NaturesFlavors recommended for DIY beginners?

All good questions. Probably best asked in the body of this sub as you will notice this thread was started over 3 years ago and the OP is no longer allowed to post. Places like Ahlusion are relatively new. Natures Flavors has a few active threads in the DIY sub.

Awesome thread- I just decided to start DIY and found a lot of info here. I down loaded a % calculator for bases and flavors, I am going to place an order with MFS and get cracking at it. I figure I can mix over 2000 ml for a start up cost of $100, I just spent $60 for 130 ml via the net- I am going to save bucko bucks
